Obama’s $500 Million Presidential Library Will Skirt Federal Standards To Save Money

DC:

Officials with the Obama Foundation will circumvent onerous federal standards by creating an online archive for the forthcoming Barack Obama Presidential Center instead of a traditional paper archive.

Utilizing a digitized presidential library also means not having to pay fees to the National Archives and Records Administration for management of the library, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The $500 million Obama center — a soul-crushing, concrete architectural monstrosity — will feature basketball courts, a recording studio, meeting rooms, an auditorium, a children’s play garden and, of course, an exhibition hall for odes to the world-historical idea of Barack Obama. Unlike every other presidential library, however, it will be bereft of historical documents.

Some historians say they are perplexed about the decision to cut cost by creating an online-only archive of Obama’s manuscripts, letters, speech drafts and other papers.

Presidential historian Gil Troy suggested that the library-less library is terrible for people seeking to understand the past.  more here

  1. Did anyone expect it to house paper: 1 Birth Certificate, 2 college transcripts, 3 Social Security card , 4 teleprompter transcripts (err, uh uh, umm..) ??

He’ll be outside shooting hoops (throwing bricks) and Mooch will be lurking in the garden, sniffing out root vegetables.

  2. It matters because it will cost 5 $million, and more with the inevitable over run.

If it’s going to be an online facility, putting the server in one of his bathrooms should suffice.

  3. Well, Hillary already saved him having to store thousands of her e-mails. Who knows how many more official government communications with Holder, Lynch, Rice and Lerner can also be conveniently deleted?

  4. PHenry, we have the Carter Library to avoid. When it was built, the plan was to build a new expressway from downtown Atlanta to the perimeter, But everybody rose up against the “ex-prezway”, and the stub highway now meanders into a speed trap for a mile before petering out into the library campus. Forgettable, institutional architecture, but at least it’s low-rise.

  5. The empty suit has an empty library. Just another way the Obamas stick it to the taxpayers and taint our country with their stench. Can’t wait until it opens to watch the MSM ooh and ah over how cool and awesome it is.

  6. The damn thing looks like a mausoleum or headstone. I suppose that is appropriate; bury the 🐂💩.

I really think a better design would have been a catin a litter box, animated to look as if the cat is trying to cover the 💩.

  7. I went to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library about the week after it first opened. Loved it. Patriotic, had all his documents, letters, books he read, notes he wrote, etc. He was a prolific writer. Great place to visit.

In other words, a community organizing center. Mark my words– five years after its completion (or maybe not even that long) it’ll look like a ghetto replete with shootings, stabbings, and drug deals. I’m going to save this post to see how good my prognostication skills are.

  9. HObama doesn’t want intellectuals to interfere with his plans to make this an urban terrorist training/indoctrination camp. Why would the trainees need to read?

I’m sure they’re bringing their own korans.

I can’t wait to see how fast the local NAPAs fuck it up, then blame YT.

  11. “Unlike every other presidential library, however, it will be bereft of historical documents.”

And that is the epitaph of the Obama Administration. I wish I could get those eight years back!
