- Only 10 people who live within Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional district have been recorded making donations to her reelection campaign in 2019, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of available Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.
- Ocasio-Cortez outraised all other 87 freshmen representatives in the first half of 2019 in individual contributions, but the New York Democrat came in second-to-last place in terms of reported itemized contributions from the people she represents.
- Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan also rank among the lowest-performing freshman representatives in terms of reported financial support from people who live within their districts.

What does that tell you about the degradation of American politics? This stuff happens on all sides. Everything is national now. My Mom receives request from around the country, from people she’s never heard of. How much of Beto O’Rourke’s support when he was running for Senate came from outside of Texas? It’s like it doesn’t matter what the people who actually live in the districts that these politicians represent might think. It’s crazy.

Look. It was a contest. Justice Democrats ran a contest.
Thousands entered. I forgot the exact stats but they ran dozens of candidates and a small handful actually got elected. But you know the names of every one that did. Because they’re absolutely bonkers so imagine the ones that lost.
They picked candidates who checked off enough boxes and funded them to the hilt in ultra-safe liberal districts.
Local Democrats will pull the lever for “D” reflexively so it didn’t matter the name on the ballot.
They like the idea of giving their electoral college votes away to a mob democracy. They like the idea of being told who to vote for and not spending their own money to do it.
