Amusement park guests in Ohio were forced to walk down a 200-plus-foot roller coaster by stairs after a mechanical issue.
The incident happened at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, on Monday, when guests at the amusement park had to evacuate the Magnum XL-200 roller coaster due to a mechanical issue.
Tony Clark, director of communications for Cedar Point, told Fox News Digital that the incident was the result of a “standard ride stoppage” which triggered the guest evacuation.
Josh Lett, who saw the evacuation, told Fox News Digital he hasn’t seen anything similar to this happen before.
The Magnum XL-200 roller coaster tops out at 205 feet and was the “Guinness Book of World Records holder for its leading edge height,” according to Cedar Point’s website. more here
A roller coaster ride that get stuck up is named after a condom?
Sounds about right…
Wowee, talk about your worse nightmare! Worse than being stuck in an ice cream parlour with Joey B. and Hunter talking on the their burner phones.
Dammit! What are people complaining about? They pay “Big Bucks” to stand in line to get amused and scared to death on a ride here in boring Ohio! So……..what’s the problem. They can buy new shorts at the Sandusky Mall!!!
…you know, bad knees and all, I’d have been delighted to be on that ride. You get a great view, an experience few other park goers will ever have, and it turns an otherwise unremarkable few minute ride into something you can talk about for years to come, even after they tear it down for the Next Big Thing.
…and I bet they gave those folks something for their troubles too, which would be a bonus…
I never understood why people would put their lives in the hands of people who were out to scare them to death. At the design stage can you imagine the conversations? “How can we kill these people without really killing them.” I really hated rides that would give you whiplash.
I always thought of carny rides as ‘tempting fate’.
“roller coaster stops midair…”
All the riders got that Wile E. Coyote look on their faces, and two seconds later, the coaster started plummeting to earth. Fortunately, everybody was able to step off the coaster, like Bugs Bunny, just before it hit the ground
Did maintenance Remember to LUBE UP before Releasing the MAGNUM?
(grease is cheap)
Are these rides built to handle the weight of some of the tubs I just saw at Six Flags?
Walking 200 feet is infinitely better than falling that distance.
Every summer my BFF and friends would go to Cedar Point. Kings Island was our second choice. Being land locked in central Ohio Cedar Point was our favorite because there was a big lake to see!
Log flume rides rocked-especially on a hot humid Ohio summer day. Cedar Point had the absolute best big a** French fries-skins on. I wonder if they still make ‘em?!?
Roller Coasters are like people with AIDS. Reduce your risks and stay away from them.
