OHIO REPS WANTS DRUG TESTS FOR WELFARE RECIPIENTS

Big Government:

A proposal from two GOP members of the Ohio House of Representatives would require welfare applicants to be screened and tested for drugs.

drug testing

Tim Schaffer and Ron Maag want a two-year pilot program in three counties to test the idea, which would invalidate welfare payments to recipients if they test positive for drugs. The applicant would have to complete a short substance abuse screening test; if there was evidence of drug abuse, a drug test would be administered. But the children and dependents of the recipient would still receive benefits because a third party could accept the cash payment.

  1. In a SANE world this would be common sense…in our entitlement shithole of a 47% living off the gubmint this will be likened to a lynching and Jim Crow laws and the word RACIST will be screamed from the highest ground…….

  2. This reminds me of something my sister told me about welfare and drug use. She works for a factory that has very dangerous working conditions where you need to be on your toes to avoid serious injury. During their application for employment, they do a drug test.

Many fail. She had one applicant tell her that he did it on purpose. Their welfare system required them to look for work, so he made sure he did didn’t get the job. He wanted to continue on welfare and all he had to do was apply to satisfy their requirement.

Wouldn’t it be the shits if her state required drug testing to stay on welfare? They should coordinate the dates of testing with the employment dates of testing!

  3. “… require welfare applicants to be screened and tested for drugs.”

Yeah. Good luck with that! No way in hell will the democrats allow their constituents to be subjected to that shit.

  4. Hasn’t been like, tried and failed? Hasn’t several states like Florida come up emply handed in their dog and pony show whitch hunt while costing the state $millions on drug test?

Yet, here we are again with the same regurgitations of political baffoonery as if reality has no place or even hell, cost to the tax payers, in their bashing of the folks they themselves drove into poverty.

  5. They actually did this in Arizona & Florida, and only got a 3% hit rate. Turns out most poor people can’t afford drugs.

This may fall under what risk managers call, “An acceptable level of fraud.” whereby it’s cheaper to let a small percentage of recipients break the rules than to ferret those abusers out.

  6. Missouri tested 39000, found 48 users, Mississippi found a whoping 2 out of 3650, Utah found 29 out of 10,000, AZ was 3 for 142K, TN 37 out of 16K, and KS with a 11 out of 28K.

But what brings this lunacy to a new level of stupid is that even with the users you find there’s little you can do other than intentionally starve the children, gaining nothing while creating more of a workload and more expenses for the taxpayers.

It’s simply compiling stupid with proven stupidity.
