Oil Tankers Are Waiting Around California’s Coast With Nowhere To Go

Daily Caller:

The U.S. Coast Guard is monitoring a situation in which dozens of oil tanker vessels are floating around the Southern California coast as they wait to dock while the country wrestles with what to do with the current glut in crude.

Oil companies are storing excess supplies on giant vessels as the country and industry ponder how and where to offload the oil. There were 27 oil vessels churning up waters just off the Southwest Pacific coast Thursday, according to a press statement from the USCG.

  1. didn’t we see this in 1973 w/ the so-called Oil Crisis?

remember the good old days when we stood in gas station lines (depending on whether your tag had an odd or even number), while tankers of crude were parked off-shore ’cause they wanted to prolong the ‘crisis’?

… kinda like the situation we find ourselves in now?

  2. Rick…. we’re gonna’ hafta race. My beloved 4 barrel sucks gas like a mechanical prostitute.

Hopefully we’ll race through some Indian reservations. Shit food but every gas station has fresh popcorn.

  3. Aaron, I’ve got a mint 67 stang that I bolted a holley quad on with a flow through edelbrock manifold. Those days are gone, now it’s all fuel management systems and computers.
I miss laying on the ground and dropping the tranny putting in a new clutch, or bolting on hooker headers. Kids will never know what they’re missing
I miss points and and having my little brother to tap the ignition until the lobe was on the high spot and gapping those points, I miss timing lights. I look under the hood of my 2018 f-250 and just shake my head. That stang is a Frankenstein car. But she’s a beaut.

  4. Georgia?

Cool. Well meet in….damn….El Paso? And first one to Minnesota wins.

Also….all I know is what I learned in auto shop class. So everything I build is a V-8 with….I dunno’,4 barrels of fun…posi-traction and whatever performer cam and next step up crank that fits.

Basically I’m sayin’ muh truck can attain light speed if it’s hauling a tanker truck full of gas.

  5. Presumably this one will be worse, but we had the same thing happen with tankers in a holding pattern in the gulf during the 2014-’16 oil glut.
    This too shall pass.
