  1. Who keeps pushing this propaganda? The absolute proof we did NOT go is that we cannot even do it now. Look what a pitiful job Nasa did just to get 2 folks to LOW Earth orbit.

  2. It was at this moment that the scum in charge who cared more about power than Mankind decided that if people could leave the Earth to build new lives for themselves out in space, then they would, and likely not pay taxes to the almighty state. That just wouldn’t do. So, it’s all gone downhill ever since.

  3. My dad was on the Apollo/Saturn launch team on pad 34 from Apollo 1 through 10. It never ceases to amaze me how we were able to send men to the moon so early in our technolical history. For those deluded conspiracy nuts who don’t think we went there, I pity them and their lack of critical thinking skills. If the landings were indeed hoaxes, then there would have been more than a quarter million people in on it who would all have kept their mouths shut. Also, I’ve personally met astronauts, and I believe them more than I do some conspiracy kook.

pleasantly surprised at how good it was…Fiction of course..But most of the

    Characters were real.

  5. This was a precious highlight of my youth. I wanted to be an astronaut, but I wouldn’t have passed the physical requirements because of ailments I had very young. Then I wanted to be an astronomer, but my math is horrible.

So, I read every science fiction book I could get my hands on and dreamed.

  6. GM – I used to visit the Chrysler electonics plant in the 80s and later on the facility they called Chrysler City on the outskirts and made time to visit Redstone a few times. At the time they had various engines on display outside including a Saturn V engine and standing underneath it and looking up at the center was mind-boggling!

  7. Interesting that it would take considerably longer to develop a new rocket and controls. My close friend that worked on the Apollo spacecraft told me they have all the drawings and schematics but lack one thing, they don’t have the talent or ingenuity to start again. Highly skilled workers, precision custom made machinery, tooling, dies and assemblies. Little, if any components remain and it all has become obsolete and no longer made. Even the space suits were made by the Playtex girdle company and now the materials are no longer available.
I myself designed finite state control systems for one of the land based suppliers.

  8. In the 80s I got to work on NASA ranging equipment (that was built in the 60s) used for tracking and passing telemetry for the Apollo and other missions. Refurb and upgrade to the controller with a PDP-11 computer. The ‘expert’ had gotten fired and I inherited the job.
