Only 17% of CA is in a drought

KFI:

The recent storms dumping rain and snow all over the state have made a major impact on the drought.

Rushing water nearly caused the Oroville Dam emergency spillway to fail, neighborhoods in San Jose are under water, and Jerry Brown still won’t declare the drought to be over.

It’s over!

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, only 17% of the state remains in a drought.  That’s the lowest percentage since 2011 and for the first time since 2013, none of the state is listed in “extreme” drought.

Just 3 months ago 73% of California was in a drought.  One year ago it was 95%.

The spillway FAILED! There’s a big ass hole in the spillway – I’m talking BIG ASS! A new crack has also developed in the spillway. Time is not on their side to fix it. Lake level won’t drop until late July. The only way to get to the spillway is through the gates. Much planning/engineering and fighting with the environmentalist will only slow down the work. The whole spillway has to be replaced or moved, but moving it isn’t even an option. It’s only a bandaid at the moment ready to be peeled off exposing the gapping wound.
