Oregon Pushes Idea That Math Is Racist

The Oregon Department of Education is promoting a course for teachers that links math lessons to racism and a culture of “white supremacy.”

The department last week sent out an online pamphlet for a course called “A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction,” which includes a section on “Dismantling Racism in Mathematics Instruction.” The pamphlet includes materials that are essentially a course for spreading wokeness inside of classrooms.

The ODE-promoted course brands itself as “an integrated approach to mathematics that centers Black, Latinx, and Multilingual students in grades 6-8, addresses barriers to math equity, and aligns instruction to grade-level priority standards.” The course challenges the reality that some answers are simply wrong while broadly challenging America’s founding principles. read more

    Here in Maine the Dems and scaredy cat R’s are getting ready to pass LD 1, to form a board to review every law or ordinance to make sure it doesn’t adversely affect anyone who isn’t white or straight.

  22. Well math is racists. It seems to always hit uneducated professional basketball, baseball, football players. Even Tiger Woods has made some bad mistakes and like all of them, their dick got in the way of losing their fortune. Dump a bundle of money in my lap and I would forget that math and money do mix. By the time the ignorant rich figures it out that there’s no mo money, they start blaming everyone but themselves.

  27. Is there a “Think tank” somewhere that looks for more and more ways to suppress ‘people of color’-(I’m not sure if the woke term has changed, again).

    What the hell, instead of teaching basically necessary math to everyone, this think tank realized it’s a great tool to divide and suppress a large part of the population. A stupid person is so easy to enslave by the damn demoncrats!

    I have many friends who are teachers and they are always trying to make their subjects relatable. Who knows, you might be able to $$$$ by publishing textbooks.

  36. In the Cultural Revolution in China, 1966-1976, led by Chaitman Mao, against the four olds, old culture, old habits, old ideas, old customs, there was no formal education in China for ten years.
    Teachers, monks, officials, educated were killed, tortured, shamed or sent to re-education camps.
    There was violence, fighting, pitched battles and Red Guards ruled through violence and intimidation.
    Finally, with a collapsing economy and Red Guards out of control, Mao sent the Red Guards to the rural villages to learn from the peasants.

    A group of mathematicians at NASA, led by a BLACK WOMAN, launched a GIANT rocket from the Earth, sent it racing into the unknown realms of Outer Space, made it the Moon and began an orbit of the Moon, they dropped a tiny Lunar Module onto the surface of the Moon, blasted that tiny module back into Space, rejoined with its shuttle and headed back to the Earth, uncoupled from the shuttle and dropped into Earths atmosphere and splashed down in the Ocean!! And all on the TRUST AND FAITH they had in the Mathematicians ability to figure out the possibility of an impossible trip by only putting numbers together with MATH!!!
    So math is only racist to radical idiots in Oregon who just want to keep saying “racism exists”!!
