DC: Researchers in Oregon are using a federal grant of over half a million dollars to figure out how to stop wind turbines from killing thousands of birds every year.
Researchers at Oregon State University were awarded a 27-month, $625,000 grant from the Department of Energy Wind Technology Office i n May 2017 with one goal in mind: Develop a system that can prevent wind turbines from killing golden eagles and other birds. Wind energy technology — despite being touted as an environmentally-friendly source of renewable energy — is estimated to kill well over 100,000 birds every year. This problem can be solved by a federally funded breeding program that genetically modifies the wings of these big, oversized, ungainly birds so that they cannot fly into these wonderful bird blenders. One (or even two) needs only to look at the great success of the DoDo birds and their fate. If that seems predestined to ultimate failure, consider several other different genetic engineering possibilities. Wouldn’t this country be better off with beautiful eagles that ran on the ground like ostriches, or walked along the undergrowth like kiwis, or hunted salmon like penguins? With enough money, all things are possible in this modern age, except ending the subsidies that cause these monstrous wind turbines to get built in the first place.

Use heavy duty wire so the weight of the birds won’t cause it to sag. Reinforce it with iron rods every 12 inches.
Have bird crossings just like they have for deer and elk. Hey it works for them. Right?
I recommend turning the windmills off. An executive order and new EPA, Fish and Wildlife regulations should do it. Plus there will be fines, big fines.
For a couple pallets of cash, we could probably get Michael Mann to declare the science is settled, windmills cause climate change.
I am embarrassed of my home state, where my conservative vote means nearly nothing.
Install a nuclear reactor at the base of each huge eyesore to get reliable clean electricity.
Then lock the bird shredders down.
Set it up so the upwind turbines act as fans powered by the downwind turbines. The fans will blow incoming birds away so they don’t get whacked. If done right, it will be a closed power system with net production of zero, so the transmission lines can be stripped for construction elsewhere for an actual useful purpose.
Make bird crossings in the sky. Like deer Xings. They work, sometimes, but sometimes the deer cross where they’re not ‘sposed to and they gets kilt. Sometimes, many times, the stupid drivers get kilt too. Tough shit sherlock, pay attention.
Birds are smarter than deer and can be trained. Another 1.5 Mil. grant should do the trick.

One of seven oil companies charged with killing migratory birds during drilling operations in North Dakota has agreed to plead guilty and pay $12,000.
Slawson Exploration Co. Inc., of Wichita, Kan., was charged under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act for killing 12 birds that died after allegedly landing in oil waste pits in western North Dakota from May 6 through June 20. Under a plea agreement filed in federal court Monday, Slawson will pay $12,000 – or $1,000 per bird – to the nonprofit National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

They should worry more about rats, mice & cockroaches, animals they are more culturally attuned to.
Liberals: Its a matter of consciousness raising. A big teach-in with the eagles to show them the progressive way forward.
