Organizer withdrawing request to hold Sept. 16 rally at Lee monument

Update 8:09 a.m.: Bragdon Bowling is withdrawing his request to the state to hold a Sept. 16 rally at the Robert E. Lee statue on Monument Avenue.

Bowling said by email Tuesday morning that “due to the potential for violence after Charlottesville, the rally on Sept 16 will not be held.”

“I do not want to be part of an event where people are hurt or killed,” Bowling said. “Our purpose is to save monuments, not be engaged in social and racial issues.”  MORE

  1. I hate to say it, but its the smart play. They just eliminated what would have been surely another Soros/McCauliff/Democrat plot to create violence for the sake of smearing Trump.

Like I said, even if one white guy shows up to protest, the lib media will still whitewash the event as another racist gathering. Sucks that libs are smothering free speech rights, but I think the group would be better off organizing to get certain political opponents out of office in VA.

  2. I have REALLY mixed feelings:
    1) This withdrawl only ENCOURAGES the Left to become worse.
    2) As long as Adolf McAuliffe is Governor, there is little sense in electing Virginia as a venue for *any* Rightwing activity.

  3. It appears our POLICE are not working.

    Nor our National Guard.

These badly behaved children should not be allowed to run amuck with adult toys.

Rubber bullets and handcuffs, their pictures and names in the media — that’s a start.

    Then jail.
