  1. Cholesterol is generally a genetic number. Readings of 3-350 were considered normal in the middle of the last century. Than big pharmaceutical went to work telling us saturated fat is bad for you and pushing seed oils. Replacing bacon grease, butter and lard with Crisco, margarine and canola oil.

Gee guess what happened? Heart disease and diabetes went through the roof. Fucking seed oils are in EVERYTHING, it’s poison, it causes massive inflammation, quit eating that shit.

Also guess what your brain needs for it to be healthy? yep, saturated fat and lots of cholesterol. You are almost guaranteed dementia on a low fat diet.

Also for men, the brain has more testosterone receptors than any other organ in the body except for your nutz. Choline which keeps the T coming in found in red meat, lots of it so throw an extra burger on the grill tonight. I mix my beef with heart and liver, also great sources of essential micronutrients.

  2. I don’t recall any doctors I have used (and there have been several) focusing on lifestyle changes. High blood pressure? Drugs. High cholesterol? Drugs. Overweight? Drugs. And on and on.

A few years ago, I decided to embark on a healthier lifestyle. Better diet, more regular exercise, 8 hours of sleep a night and naps when I need them, and a focus on eliminating stress. It worked – I dropped a hundred pounds, I feel better, and I actually enjoy these changes.

Different Tim observed that the money is in treating the illness – not curing the patient, and he is absolutely correct. More doctors should just be honest with their patients and tell them “you’re a fat bastard with an unhealthy lifestyle, and you’ll feel better if you make some changes.”

  3. Wyatt, I’d read recently that the High Blood Pressure Standards are going to be lowered; in other words, LOWER systolic/diastolic numbers = HBP. That’s a win/win for Big Pharma. Old men like me will have to increase their BP meds, and more younger men will be diagnosed as HBP.This means we’ll be paying more for Meds for THE REST of OUR LIVES.

  4. I’m now part of the uncontrolled study group, I’m not using statins.
I’ll take my chances without them even though my cardiologist said it was a non-negotiable Med to stop taking.
Not looking for an argument with him, just not doing it, my body, my choice,Right?
