It wasn’t that long ago when all LE departments; local, state and federal, required a very basic level of physical fitness to get hired. There were also yearly evaluations to make sure that the standard was maintained. Those standards have been abandoned, so now, soft, pudgy, out-of-shape lard-butts can “protect and serve”.
All cops can attest to one simple, unassailable fact: it is not a matter of if but when you, while on duty, find yourself on your back fighting for your life. If you don’t prepare yourself for that fight ahead of time, you are worse than useless.
