Pelosi cancels in-person Hill dinner for Democrat-elect House members after social media backlash

Just The News:

The office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday cancelled a dinner for incoming House Democrats after social media backlash about hosting the traditional Capitol Hill event amid a surging pandemic.

Pelosi and her office initially defended the event amid the criticism – the same day the U.S. recorded a record, single-day number of new cases – before announcing its cancellation.

The number of new cases Friday was 184,524, according to the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine tracker.

“Our office strictly follows the guidance of the Office of Attending Physician, including for this dinner,” tweeted Deputy Chief of Staff Drew Hammill. “To be a further model for the nation, this event has been modified to allow Members-elect to pick up their meals to go in a socially-distanced manner.” more

  1. The Covid numbers are as real as the election numbers. The Covid tests come in two flavors from the makers, positive and negative. That’s how they control the spikes.

  2. That event never would have seen the light of day were it not for the fact that the republicans were planning one too.

Riddle me this: If a tree falls down in the middle of the forest and nobody is around to hear it, did it make a sound?

Pravda and Izvestia have the answer.

  3. To bad they cancelled it, I thought this would be a good place to use the tactics the left have used. You know where they barricade a building with cops in it and then try to burn it down. Well I’m sure there will be plenty more opportunities in the future for payback.
