People who have ‘never seen buses before’ caught taking pictures at schools

EAG: BRUNSWICK, N.Y. – Tamarac Elementary School officials are warning parents about multiple incidents involving strangers taking pictures and attempting to enter the school.

On Monday, a man and a woman were found taking pictures in the school parking lot at dismissal, and the Rensselaer County Sheriff and State Police are now investigating the incident, the Albany Times Union reports.

“I approached these individuals, who stated they were from out of the country and had never seen buses like this at a school,” Principal Lindsay Morris told in a letter to parents. “I wrote the make, model, and license plate number down of the car, told the man and women they could not take photos and to leave school property.”

Morris also detailed two other incidents involving alleged out-of-towners that occurred Monday.

  1. TO voir dire

It WOULD be suspicious if they were muzzies.
I only skimmed the article and noted there were 2 “Europeans” who were lost and asked questions…

    BUT:
one thing I can say is that, for Europeans,
American school busses are almost as *symblematic* of America as a hamburger at McDonalds or the Statue of Liberty.

WE take it for granted, but these are some of the small things in American life that AMAZE folks in other countries.

Who knows…maybe “European” like “mischevious youths” (instead of “rioting savage negroes”).

  2. ““I approached these individuals, who stated they were from out of the country and had never seen buses like this at a school,””

Makes sense to me if you’re used to seeing camels and goats.

  3. Public transport and buses are common in all parts of Europe. When I lived in Germany I rode a school bus identical to US school buses.
Most school buses in Europe are yellow, sometimes light blue, and they are also yellow in China.

No doubt these people have the names Ahmed, Mohamed and Aisha even if they look ‘European’.

  4. @KMM — Just trying to be funny. As pointed out, above, a yellow school bus is American as a hamburger. Who in the world has never seen an American school bus somewhere?! Maybe a Martian?

If I was the school admin, I would have called the police just to make sure there was a record of the encounter. Little good it does these days.

  5. “I wrote the make, model, and license plate number down of the car, told the man and women they could not take photos and to leave school property.”

Why can’t you take pictures of school buses? We the taxpayer paid for those buses. I hate this kind of government crap.

  6. In the late 80’s when the middle east was all crazy, oh wait, it was always crazy, Libyans were caught following school buses that were coming to and from US military bases (Central America) containing elementary through high school students. I used to ride one of those buses and didn’t find out about it until weeks after when the threat was clear.

Naturally, we were pissed off that we weren’t told our heads should be on a swivel, but seeing how America has become the world’s bitch- I can see why this is a problem now, too.

Not just one school, but schools across town or in a different state, too, were photographed. Because tourists can’t see all kinds of buses on the street while in traffic? They need to come onto school property? For what?

  7. I live in a city with a large military base. Military wives reported being watched and even harassed by middle eastern looking men a couple years ago. The local news reported it once, then the story disappeared.

  8. @ Czar, Nurnberg the 1960’s. The yellow school bus would pick us up on Pastoriusstrasse (Pastorius Army Housing Area) and haul us on what seemed a very long ride at the time. Might have been an American made bus. The driver was German. He used to let us scream our lungs out when we went through this small tunnel and then we would all settle down. Odd little memory.

Before that we were in Garmisch and I can’t remember how we got to school. I know we weren’t driven because we had only one car. I do remember a lot walking.

  9. Too bad it’s New Yawk. I’d warn the parents and urge them to ride the bus with their children. . . .armed with whatever they choose to carry, open and in plain sight. Time to adopt the Israeli Children Defense Plan, arm the teachers and administration. But, sad to say, it’s New Yawk. My condolences to the children for being sitting ducks, living in the wrong place at the wrong time.
