As recently as 2016, nearly a third of Oregon’s power was generated by burning coal, The Guardian newspaper reported. In March of that year, Gov. Kate Brown signed into law a ban on coal-fired power — but not until 2040. read more

Oregon should convert the energy from their burning cities into electricity, Portland should be good for at least three years.
Well, if my computer goes dead we’ll all know why.
It’s gut-wrenching how asshole liberals take over a beautiful state and turn it into shit.
I recently heard that if 20,000 people chew aluminum foil while they have battery cables attached to their lips, they can charge a lawn mower battery….change my mind….
The old saying…stupid is as stupid does…explains a lot of this random moronic behavior the left does.
Yup, politicians do something destructive, but they then make sure it won’t impact them until they retire.
Rolling black outs in 3…2…1..
Socialist don’t like continuous power for the peasants..
@The Gunny – your comment was very ‘resource’ FULL. And VERY funny!

FTFY
Funny the story never mentioned whether PGE had replaced the lost power with another clean and reliable source. I wonder how many jobs were lost (at the plant and the coal producer) and whether they were balanced by new jobs at whatever replacement source they developed.
Amazing foresight of turning off the juice with winter coming. Great plan Dems. Yes. I didn’t read what sustainable alternative form of power generation would be used. I understand unicorn gas is one resource but hard to catch those little dickens. So wind farms that freeze up and or solar power panels with no batteries. What a future. Ignorant fools. Hope it’s a hard winter.
More genius by the morons in charge who believe solar and wind will be just fine (but clean reliable nuclear is evil). Colorado is slated to do the same by 2024, and every one of the legislatures who jammed unreliable power down the throats of the mostly republican citizenry are on the take from wind/solar power interests.
Let’s take a look. Allow morons to terrorize your cities and then turn off the power. Yep. makes sense to me. /sarc
At a minimum, this means the cost of electricity for the consumer will be going up..
The “greener” the electricity, the more it costs. I know of no exceptions, but if there is one I’d like to be informed about it (preferably with real life situations demonstrating it
Black Coal Matters!

Say goodbye to coal fired generation and the grid reliability it supported. It’s all part of a plan, and the planners aren’t consumers. Soon power will be the luxury of the elite.
STUNADS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a good thing they saved the Oregon forests for the spotted owl. They’re going to need all those trees for firewood pretty soon.
Well, they can try this;

Though Mr. Wizard made learning it more fun.
One giant leap in Californicating Oregon!
The democrat politicians want to save our coal to sell to the Chinese to line their pockets even more. If the democrats get back into office, I bet they sell our coal mines to the Chinese.
Kevin R.,
And the owls too.
Fine! More for the rest of us who still live in Rush’s “Realville”.
The coal power plant has been in operation for 40 years. I’m guessing the owners have gotten their moneys worth out of it.
To bad ethanol isn’t the wonder-fuel, they want us to believe. CLEANER & RENEWABLE, would be the perfect fuel. Except it’s all BS. Big business, lobbyist, and subsidies.
California has been Californicating Oregon since the early 70’s when there were signs that said Don’t Californicate Oregon as you drove on I-5 coming up from California. I remember seeing some of those signs back then.
Amazingly enough, Anonymous hit the nail on the head.
PGE gets to cut production and raise prices. What company would hate that?
Hell, I’d move to Oregon if I didn’t have to build a power plant but still got paid for providing power.
Oregon has been my home state for many years…..I used to be proud of that…….Anymore……not so much.
I seriously believe the liberals have been able to control the voting….Just like in California.
Here’s hoping we can correct the bullshit, eliminate the commie-liberals and restore common sense BEFORE we lose the 2nd Amendment.
Put all the Demoncrats on bicycles with their spockrets and chains connected to a turbine. Let them use their hot air to generate power. I bet they will be screaming for coal in less than an hour.
How will they charge their electric cars?
