Yes, have been doing that. I have a childhood friend that lives in Fort Meyers. The thing is going right over top of her. I hope she and others have homes to come back to.
So far so good here. We’re right in the X ring. Winds at the moment gusting above 60. Forecast for 4 p.m. is 100 mph. We’re safe from the storm surge but that same storm surge impedes the draining of rainwater…and we’re getting a TON of rainwater.
I live in Naples. It was too far offshore to have any really detrimental effect in the immediate area that I live. Lots of wind, lots of rain. Both are still going on but we have the accordion shutters opened on our lanai to both let in some light and to see what there is to see so it’s not frighteningly bad.
We’ve had at least 30 power blips (I quit counting) but no power outage.
This is our second hurricane since moving here in 2017. We left town for Irma, ending up in northern Alabama after a long drive over two days. Irma pretty much went over our house but thankfully it had weakened. No damage to our home worth mentioning but our community of 562 homes had $1.1 million in costs for cleanup and replacement of trees, fencing and the like.
The press is going to be relentless in blaming DeSantis for however this shakes out across the state.
Have been and will continue. I have a life long friend holed up in Naples and another 2 near Tampa right now. We all grew up together back here in Ohio.
I have a good friend in St. James City. thank God he left.
Stay safe and keep us posted, Uncle Al!
‘Ryan Hall, Y’all’ on YouTube. Best coverage for weather events.
Hopes and prayers will not help. Only eliminating climate change by all of us going back to living in the stone age can prevent tragedies like this in the future. Wake up Amerika. It’s settled science!
Lotsa Rain in Little Torch Key…Drove down to Key West to Work…It’s a Mess,
and the Hurricane wasn’t that close…Big fire on Flagler Ave. Couldn’t get to
the House I’m remodeling…Water was too deep…No Power anyway.
Try again Tomorrow..Spent the Day Shaming My Neighbors into Yard Clean-up.
The wind is driving the rivets out of 4 screens in my lanai cage. No flooding. The wind is screaming. South Sarasota County.

If you have a boat to big to trailer how do they protect them?
Usually put Them in the middle of a Canal, and spread multiple Mooring Lines
leaving “Spring” room..Two decent size Cruisers are on the Road in Big Coppitt.
We are just now getting Storm Surge…Got My Truck back up on Stands in the
Crest of the Road.

Thanks, being a fresh water guy I was curious. Good luck to you guys.
amay the Lord bless and protect those in the path of this terrible storm from its full wrath. May He preserve life and limb against the terror of the winds and the relentlessness of the sea, hold them harmless in the raging flood, and hold His protective Hand over rescuer and rescuee alike in the aftermath as He calms the troubled waters and stills the currents of the air. The task is large but our Lord is mightier still, and it is to His glory we appeal and His mercy we implore and in the precious name of His Son Jesus we pray,
Amen.
God Bless,

Thanks for the post. My brother is in Cape Coral, right in the heart of it. Just moved there in March. Mercy, please.
