Pope Francis accuses lockdown protesters of turning ‘personal freedom’ into an ‘ideology’ in Thanksgiving op-ed

Wa Examiner –

Pope Francis urged people to put others before themselves as the world struggles to come out of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a lengthy op-ed for the New York Times, the pope wrote of his own personal health battles when he was young and called on people to come together in the midst of the global pandemic. He criticized those who have been vocal in opposing government decisions related to lockdowns to help corral the virus.

“Governments have made great efforts to put the well-being of their people first, acting decisively to protect health and to save lives,” the pope wrote. “Yet some groups protested, refusing to keep their distance, marching against travel restrictions — as if measures that governments must impose for the good of their people constitute some kind of political assault on autonomy or personal freedom! Looking to the common good is much more than the sum of what is good for individuals.”

The pope went on to say that people need to do what’s best for the common good and follow public health precautions, adding that people were taking the idea of personal liberties out of context.

“It is all too easy for some to take an idea — in this case, for example, personal freedom — and turn it into an ideology, creating a prism through which they judge everything,” the pope said. more

  1. Personal freedom is an ideology. Look at what has happened since we took just one step back from our liberties for just a few months. The left is now poised to take everything away from us.

  2. Why anyone follows and believes in this guy and his church he represents is beyond me. I liken the same people as being diehard Demoncrats. They are evil people, especially the Pope the antiChrist.

  3. For some reason, I find myself doubting that Pope Francis is putting the spreading Gospel and the message of salvation and reconciliation with God through Christ as his first priority, or much of a priority of any kind for that matter.

I’ve always considered that this is the first duty of all Christians, whether the lowly worshiper in his home or the High and the Mighty in their pulpits.

Am I wrong and does the Catholic Church set a different set of priorities for their Pope? I have to ask because I’m not Catholic and really don’t understand the intricacies of their doctrine.

  4. Anyone else here old enough to remember when the Pope pretty much stuck to religious matters and left politics, science, and other secular subjects to the experts?

    …Nah, me neither.

    🙂

  5. Nope, Red Francis, you crusty old commie. The Marxism which you so lovingly embrace is an ideology. And an evil one. Personal freedom is a God given right.

  6. “”…The pope wrote that God’s intention is to create a new world after the pandemic…”

There you have it. The anti-Pope anti-Christ is a NWO globalist. I guess he’s positioning to be head of the global papacy.

Sneaky bastard. He wants us to think “their people” means the general populace. What he’s actually saying is that govts put the well-being of their people, govt people, first and screw the general populace.

Prove it, you satanic fraud. You can’t. Harming individuals harms the “common good” regardless of how you define that imaginary collectivist ideological postulate.

  8. @VietVet: What do you do with a man that claims to be Christ here on earth? IMHO, that’s blasphemy, there’s only 1 Christ. Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord will inherit heaven.” The Pope is a sinner like the rest of us – God is without sin. “You shall have no other Gods before me.” The Pope has failed to understand that, he has to make himself relevant to his sheeple.

  9. Red Francis is a South American Liberation Theologist. He was matriculated in the 60s & 70s Jesuit belief that Jesus was a Socialist and that Socialism is what will bring Heaven on Earth. He is also despised by the majority of Catholics. None of the priests at the three churches with which Mrs. Lot and I associate care for him but will not openly disdain him.

Like Leftists everywhere, he seeks to destroy the status quo and replace it with a more “egalitarian” society where we will all be equally miserable.

  10. This just reeks of marxism! Did he plagiarize it like old joe does? Raised a catholic and even got on with video church community meetings but haven’t done so in over 2 months because of this crap! These people believe him just because of his title! If I get on the video with these so called Catholics I would lose my shit! They don’t want to see that. 😊

  11. Apparently the Pope doesn’t understand the concept of free will that was given to us by God. If God gives us free will then shouldn’t his so-called representative on Earth grant us the same thing? Though sometimes I wonder which Angelic being the current Pope actually supports.

  12. Is the Pope catholic?
Only if they accept him. Especially as he changes their religion.

For the rest of us, that infallibility BS identifies him a blasphemer, not Christian by any stretch.

Good luck when you meet your Maker, pendejo.

Personal freedom is our American Ideology and has been for over 200 years. This ill-informed and nasty pope was born in Argentina, which has had mostly military or socialist dictatorships for the last 80 years or so. This pope is ignorant of personal freedom. He doesn’t know what it means. He is exactly a stupid good for nothing.
