Former FBI Director James Comey admitted Thursday at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing that he leaked memos about his meetings with President Donald Trump through a third party to the media and lawyers now question the legality of that release.
Marc Kasowitz, President Trump’s personal lawyer, told reporters Thursday that Comey admitted to unauthorized disclosures of privileged information and would let the appropriate authorities determine whether an investigation should happen.
“Although Mr. Comey testified he only leaked the memos in response to a tweet, the public record reveals that the New York Times was quoting from these memos the day before the referenced tweet, which belies Mr. Comey’s excuse for this unauthorized disclosure of privileged information and appears to entirely retaliatory,” Kasowitz said.
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley stated on his website that although the memos were created by Comey, the former FBI director would likely have to follow federal non-disclosure laws of classified and unclassified information.

If you know comey’s past career movement as the clinton’s “problem” fixer, you get a truer picture of the man than the one he painted of himself in his testimonial preamble. I think it is a testimony to his colossal arrogance — believing he was truly untouchable — which caused him to make such an amateur mistake.
God’s hand is in this gov’t every day. People say and do the very things they don’t want to say and do; revealing their true natures, revealing damning facts about themselves. It’s a wondrous thing to behold.

Legal commentator Jon Turley has a piece today pointing out all the laws Comey knew he was breaking in illegally leaking his secretive and very suspiciously-like-blackmail “Oval Office documentation” to the NYT. Major felonies. And he’s just confessed under Oath.
Toast. So is the Columbia Law prof “buddy” who agreed to be the handler. He can’t plead ignorance to the illegality of the docs he was transmitting.
And Comey admits his specific goal was to trigger creation of a Soecial Prosecutor specifically to target Trump. That smells suspiciously like conspiracy, and attempted overthrow of an incoming POTUS.
The Dems are carefully avoiding this. Conservative media and the WH should be calling for an indictment of Comey and a long overdue investigation into the Comey–Clinton-Obama-Soros machine.
Yesterday’s testimony could just be Capone’s failure to file a tax return.

Note: I was traveling 8 hrs yesterday and listened to testimony on NPR. Noticed traffic was steadily slowing and I pulled into a rest stop over SC border. People were congregating in atrium area and restrooms in excited conversation like it was 9/11 redux. Nuts!

Cato is right, nothing will happen. It gets so frustrating to have these people by the balls (yes even Hillary) time and time again only for justice to be denied. Our prisons should be over-flowing with democrats.
@Plain Jane — I think I just read the same story that was at Operation Disclosure. It was a submission to the Open Submission page. Pretty compelling read. Since comey opened a can of worms on Lynch (especially) and the Gang of 8’s lying, I am hoping that the DoJ goes after that line of investigation.

For every lie that’s told, two more lies need to be told to cover it up – and so on and so forth.
This is what ultimately chokes our country’s prosperity to death – except we’re the ones choking, not the liars. The liars get paid well by the people being choked.
I know I sound like an emotional broken record on this topic of (what I think) should be the proper response to this rampant asshattery, but I say start shooting the bad guys and you’ll begin to see a cleansing of evil.
A civil war in this country is an inevitability. Wouldn’t it be nice to be on the side that actually removes what’s destroyed this country?
– Make the practice of Communism ILLEGAL.
– Make the practice of Shariah and Islam ILLEGAL.
– Make sure everybody is ARMED who wishes to be – fund and train them.
– Shun Political Correctness. The 1st Amendment wasn’t created to protect ‘safe speech’.
