Once again, meat consumption is under attack by progressive leaders. Politicians and the United Nations call on all of us to eat more plant-based foods and less meat and dairy products in the name of saving the planet. But it’s clear that most people across the world disagree.
US Senator Cory Booker recently shared his “journey” to a vegetarian diet. Booker warns, “The tragic reality is this planet simply can’t sustain billions of people consuming industrially produced animal agriculture because of environmental impact.”
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) calls for a “great food transformation.” The UN states, “There are more of us, we’re getting wealthier, and we’re demanding more protein-rich foods, such as meat. In the long run, this is simply not sustainable.” The UNEP quotes a recent 50-page study by the EAT-Lancet Commission.
The EAT-Lancet Commission study is an alarming document. It begins with the statement, “Civilisation is in crisis…For the first time in 200000 years of human history, we are severely out of synchronization with the planet and nature.”
The EAT-Lancet study recommends that people reduce their daily intake of red meat to less than one ounce per day, or less than one 8-ounce hamburger per week. The study recommends a maximum of two ounces of poultry per day, or less than a chicken breast per day. The study also calls for more than a 100 percent increase in consumption of legumes, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Without these changes, the study warns of “reduced human life expectancy” and “continued environmental degradation.”
But it’s clear that people want to eat meat. As wealth rises, people increase their consumption of meat, fish, and dairy products in almost all nations. more
Protein and fats are essential for good health and mental acuity. Progs want a population devoid of both that can be easily controlled and made to serve them. If Progs don’t like meat then they should eat shit, die, and leave the rest of us alone.
As I mumble through chomps of a Big Mac, “Don’t bother me, I’m eating!”
Seeds are better. Eat more seeds. No mention of them, of course.
Last night we had a rack of lamb RARE, like purple rare. It was barely 115 degrees taking it off the grill. Man, was it GOOD. I never had lamb that rare. With a nice char on the outside. So juicy.
You know it was a good meal when it’s on your mind the next day and I don’t mean thinking about it on the toilet.
Progressives ruin everything. The hypocrisy is red meat is a renewable resource!
Perfect prog “thought”! Meat IS plant based! It’s just a more energy rich food source where the nutrients the plants contribute have been concentrated by the critter being eaten.
But it’s OK to gnaw certain types of meat?
Chew but don’t swallow?
Or chew AND swallow?
Obola, Barney Frank, Booger, Madcow, that gummer of Oregon, Andy Cooper, Spaniel Smith, the poodle guy? THEY know all about meat!
izlamo delenda est …
Most of the land surface of the earth is unfit for any sort of agriculture.
The only way to produce food on this land is through the grazing or browsing of livestock.
Beef is concentrated sunlight.
Just like Brad once said “if God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of food?” I’ve said that a couple times, in liberal gatherings to great affect. I’ll say it again when the opportunity is there.
Soylent Green…. It’s people!!!!!!!!!!
I got the UN’s meat right HEAH, BAY- BEEEEEEEEEE!!!
To be clear.
The Left: “shoving meat in your ass is good despite AIDS and other proven health risks.”
Also The Left: “shoving meat in your face is bad despite proven health benefits.”
Seems par for the course.
