I don’t get it

I had an underachieving pot-head Korean buddy in college before he dropped out. He would get mad if someone thought he was Chinese. He would say “Hell no, Im Korean, we’re the niggers of the Orient”

Again, Thirdtwin’s Second Law:
“Every organization which is not explicitly straight eventually turns gay.”
I blame HR for most of this.
The Root peaked about the same time that it made the shrewd observation that black people watch too much TV.

“I don’t get it”
The Root is the GQ of Ebonys. Capisce?

From what I’ve seen on TV commercials they are ALL white.

Frederick Douglass. Booker T. Washington. Look into those luminaries and get back later. Promoted, my ass, just living in the matrix.

I can’t get past the obscenities anymore in order to understand what someone is trying to convey. Think “A Christmas Story” where Ralphie has a mouth full of Lifebuoy while Schwartz is getting his at the hand of his mother.
When are we going to figure out that spoken/written obscenities are a sin against God; the same God we seek to have mercy on us and our country?
A couple of days ago while checking out at the grocery store the checker, bagger and the guy behind me struck up a loud and animated conversation about “those Seahawks against the Eagles, man!”. The bagger twice exploded with expletives about the admirable Seahawks talent against the losers. When I said, “Hey! Hey!”, he looked at me with the “what?” expression. I said, “This is a public place. I know you men get worked up over football, but this is a public place.” His response was, “Yeah, I guess we do, don’t we?” I don’t think he even understood what I was admonishing him for. And, no, I’m not a “Karen.” Public displays of obscenity have coarsened our society and we shouldn’t be surprised that young people today know no limits when no one models something different.

The use of obscenities reveals the limited vocabulary, and intelligence, of the speaker.
Weak choice of words doesn’t translate necessarily to irreverence of God, imho, just an incapable speaker.
Now cursing to demean others, using “foul” language or not, THAT is damnable.

Grow the fuck up.
@Since you brought it up — Yeah, I used to let myself off the hook with that rationale, but here’s what God wants us to know about any use of foul or coarse language:
Ephesians 5:4 ESV
Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
Ephesians 4:29 ESV
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Colossians 3:8 ESV / 335 helpful votes
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
Colossians 3:8-10 ESV
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
Colossians 4:6 ESV
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Exodus 20:7 ESV
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
Matthew 12:37 ESV
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Matthew 12:36 ESV
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
James 3:10 ESV
From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
Matthew 15:10-11 ESV
And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.”
2 Timothy 2:16 ESV
But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,
(There’s about 100 other references in scripture about foul, coarse and blasphemous talk. I had no idea just how many, myself! I knew you’d want to know about these.
