BPR: The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) has exposed Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio for allegedly misusing his security detail, often referred to as the executive protection unit (EPU) during his failed 2020 presidential run. The DOI’s report spanned 47 pages and the probe, launched about two years ago, reveals he still has yet to re-pay the massive amount of funds used for his run.
DOI investigators said the list of numerous violations “lapses in best practices, corruption vulnerabilities, and inefficient uses of public resources,” Politico reported.
The head of de Blasio’s detail NYPD Inspector Howard Redmond has been referred to the district attorney after it was found he ‘actively obstructed and sought to thwart” the investigation, Politico reported. Redmond could be facing criminal prosecution. more here
