Riots Break Out, Strikers Block Fuel Refineries as Millions Protest in France Against Pension Reforms

Breitbart: Violent riots and economically damaging activist actions broke out in France on Tuesday as the country saw one of its biggest mass mobilisations of protesters in years in response to President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to raise the pension age from 62 to 64 years old.

Millions of people took part in protests across 200 towns and cities in France on Tuesday, with the organising CGT union claiming that up to 3.5 million people flooded out onto the streets, while the French Interior Ministry put the number at around 1.28 million.

The protests and accompanying trade union strikes were the sixth such demonstration since January against President Macron’s planned pension age hike to 64, which would still be lower than other major European nations such as Britain, Germany, and Spain. Nevertheless, the proposal has sparked outrage among the French public that has been suffering under economic hardship caused by rampant inflation. MORE

  1. I am not surprised. My sister, daughter and I visited France in July 2005. They are as “lazy as sin” and previous governments caved to the French and reduced the ages for pensions. Now, the government is in serious economic decline/debt and they are trying to correct course. There will be more riots.

  2. Since Biden proposed paying UKRAINE Pensioners, will he offer to pay pensioners of France too? Share the wealth, we no longer have.

After all, it will only further increase inflation and our National Debt, placing all the financial burdens upon two or three future generations of US children.

Just one more effort to make America default on foreign debt and throw our Nation in economic turmoil.

You know fundamentally transform the US to a third world country.

  3. The US government reforms my pension every January when they reveal the SS cost of living increase. I don’t understand what part of “cost of living” they don’t comprehend, but it ain’t MY cost of living especially under these Bidenomics….

The difference between US and the French is WE put in 50+ hours a week over more then 40 years. I did my best to supply my retirement with other investments then SSI, yet it’s a chunk of change that I count on…..FUCKERS!!!…

  4. Biden ‘Value Statement’ Budget Seeks “Big Tax Hikes”, Spending Increases, And Mounting Debt.

Biden’s budget is expected to include claims that it would reduce the debt from those levels, although debt would still be far higher than it is today and would be elevated by historical norms.

Biden can claim anything, what we’ll get is:
Greater DEBT, more TAXES, higher INFLATION and a middle and lower income workers and Retirees struggling between paying for food, taxes, increased fuel prices, housing, medicine and medical bills. Biden has no grasp of economics or the financial burdens citizens face.

    Think of your buying power….

Now pedojoe46 and the fed (km) reserve bank….
prints up $1.2 trillion for their infrastructure bill….

(You do know they just print more money when they need it)

Nothing to do with dumping money and weapons into Ukraine, though.

Well there’s your problem, right there. It’s a lifetime membership in that club.

  7. The French have for many decades been where we find ourselves now. They vote, but the candidates are always and only those approved by the state to begin with. Trump’s term demonstrated the lengths to which the state will go to destroy any unapproved candidate who we vote in. Then, in 2020 they let us know that we can vote any way we want and they will install their chosen person through whatever means necessary. The mid terms included more of this lesson… Hobbs, Fetterman, come directly to mind. If the Frenchies were to burn the whole place to the ground that would be a start. Our government is no better than theirs, and theirs is no better than the North Korean government in that remediation of government policy is not possible through civil means. So, burn baby burn and it’s on its way here at a staggering clip. Remember, kerosene is a superior accelerant, no flash off like gas or hot solvents, no piddling burn like diesel, no slow crawl like oil. Easy light, strong and long burn.

Inflation is is caused by government policies, rampant or not.
The frog’s, or the EU’s, central banks are inflating their currency.

The frogs should concentrate on solving (eliminating) the causes rather than bitching about the effects.
