(CNN) Robert Vaughn, who played a slick spy on TV’s “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” died Friday, his manager, Matthew Sullivan, told CNN. He was 83.
Vaughn had been ill with acute leukemia and was receiving treatment in recent months.
A New York native, Vaughn was born to parents who were already in show business.
liberal pussy
rip
I thought we already did this guy..? Maybe they just thought he was dead the first time?
Who was that crappy actor with the lousy dying scenes earlier this year?
Unruly, it was me.
Enjoyed his work.
RIP
No, I’m thinking about a guy who looks a little like Vaughan but was a crappy actor. Vaughan wasn’t too bad. RIP
The other guy couldn’t act for shit in the old westerns.
Watching “The Magnificent Seven” now. He was pretty much the last one of the cast still living except for Rosenda Monteros (Petra). Yeah, I’ve only watched the movie a few thousand times.
Hw was a good actor. Enjoyed him as the burnt out gunslinger who finds one last moment of courage in The Magnificent Seven, the suave secret agent in The Man from Uncle to the sleazy senator in Bullitt. He may have been a liberal but he didn’t shout about it. RIP Mr. Solon Channel D closed.
Have somebody prepare a meal.
A meal?
Full course then bury it with him.
Bury it?
That was our arrangement. A meal and a place to hide.
R.I.P. Man from UNCLE.
R.I.P U.N.C.L.E
The remake of Man From U.N.C.L.E. in 2015 was a fitting tribute. I enjoyed it, thanks Mr. Vaughn. When my parents allowed me to stay up late I enjoyed the series.:)
They’re replaying the Lieutenant at 5:30 am weekdays on GETTV. I never miss an episode.
As an early teen I loved watching the Man from UNCLE on a TV.
As an adult the thought of any organization called the United Nations Council for Law Enforcement really ticked me off.
Nevertheless, that was just a fiction story. Robert was an actor trying make a living. RIP Robert V.
@Blink; Oh man, waster rage It was:
United
Network
Command for
Law and
Enforcement
He had a cool style and didn’t rub his politics in my nose-Godspeed dude.
Loved him in the Man from U.N.C.L.E. – also, his blond sidekick was kinda cute.
But once Sean Connery showed up Vaughn as a leading man became trailer trash and had to play the bad guys, which he played well.
RIP
@Zonga; Connery was the first spy with Dr. No (released in late 1962). He started the whole genre. TV was a few years later with I Spy, Man from Uncle (late 1964), Man in a Suitcase etc. I don’t think he ever was a typical leading man type but you’re right, he sure could play a bad guy.
Thanks scr_north!
I wasn’t old enough to be allowed to see Dr. No in ’62.
heh!
