Romney’s “Treason” Smear of Tulsi Gabbard is False and Noxious, But Now Typifies U.S. Discourse

The Founders limited “treason” in the Constitution due to grave concerns it would be weaponized to criminalize dissent: exactly how the term is now routinely used.

Glenn Greenwald:

The crime of “treason” is one of the gravest an American citizen can commit, if not the gravest. It is one of the few crimes other than murder for which execution is still a permissible punishment under both U.S. federal law and the laws of several states. The framers of the U.S. Constitution were so concerned about the temptation to abuse this term — by depicting political dissent as a criminalized betrayal of one’s country — that they chose to define and limit how this crime could be applied by inserting this limiting paragraph into the Constitution itself; reflecting the gravity and temptation to abuse accusations of “treason,” it is the only crime they chose to define in the U.S. Constitution. Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution states:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

Treason was the only crime to be explicitly defined and limited by the Founders because they sought “to guard against the historic use of treason prosecutions by repressive governments to silence otherwise legitimate political opposition.” In other words, the grave danger anticipated by the Founders was that “treason” would radically expand to include any criticisms of or opposition to official U.S. Government policy, activities they sought in the Bill of Rights to enshrine as an inviolable right of U.S. citizenship, not turn it into a capital crime. more here

Isn’t electoral fraud an act of war? A distinct attack on the United States, undermining the foundations of the country?
And conspiring with our sworn enemies to falsely impeach a sitting President, giving them aid and comfort in the process?

Looks like most of the House, the Senate, the Spook Agencies, and the Supremes should be indicted, convicted, and executed.

Glenn, you ignorant slut. Americans have no (United Nations’ recognized) country. To commit “treason” against.

    > We don’t need a thermal nuclear war.

Need? Or want? Because even people what can’t mafs, have seen the implementation of the plan they’ve, already, been told, is The Plan.

Good Guys? Being promoted through the ranks. Of The System designed to implement The Plan. To abort The Plan? While The System grinds on?

Patriots? Overthrowing The System? For the people?

The System grinding to a halt? While there are still people to grind?

If you’ve got a less destructive plan, than global thermonuclear annihilation (I’ve heard an apocalypse is, actually, worse), I’d be glad to send it hope and prayers. But, now, it’s the only plan (not hope and prayers) on the table.

  9. Watch out for this goddam “Problem Solvers Caucus” in Congress. As with everything that comes out of the anus of “Our Democracy”, its name means the exact opposite of its function:

“We, the 58 members of the Problem Solvers Caucus, urge continued U.S. commitment to the sovereignty of Ukraine and the freedom of the Ukrainian people in the face of Russia’s ongoing invasion,” the moderate, bipartisan House Problem Solvers Caucus (PSC) said Sunday. “We strongly believe that the U.S. must provide additional defense materiel to Ukrainians protecting their nation.”

“The PSC went on to call on Biden to help give the Ukrainians Stinger missiles, drones and Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter jets that Poland is offering to send to Ukraine.”

This is just the beginning. We are going to have an AUMF rammed down our throats very soon if these war-karens get their way.
