I can recall a time or two in the O.R. in Japan when we would have a tremor roll through. Not cool when you’re working inside some patient’s brain. The boss would just pull back and pause till the room became still again, and then continue like nothing happened.

Russia’s main Pacific nuclear submarine base is across Avacha Bay from the port of Petropavlovsk. It is a very well protected bay, so not likely to be impacted significantly by a tsunami, but a strong, well-placed earthquake, and/or the nearby volcanoes exploding, could put the area at risk of nuclear contamination.
