Russia suspended electricity supplies to Finland overnight after its energy firm RAO Nordic threatened to cut off supplies over payment arrears, an official for Finland’s grid operator told AFP on Saturday.
“It is at zero at the moment, and that started from midnight as planned,” Timo Kaukonen, manager for operational planning at Fingrid, said.
RAO Nordic had Friday said it would suspend supplies, citing problems with payments, as Helsinki prepares to announce its application for NATO membership in the wake of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. more
Trump warned Europe about depending on Russia for energy, and they laughed at him and then ignored his warning. Dunno what Finland’s like in the spring or summer, but I know the winters are long and fucking cold and only a few short months away.

Finland, along with many European countries, has been selling weaponry to—and buying energy from—Russia for years. None of these assholes are afraid of Russian aggression. They are more afraid of NATO than Russia. That’s why they are bending over for Brussels. NATO is like the jab. Weden and Finland had better think twice before they get it. What happens when you go cold turkey on your Russia addiction, and NATO can’t get you your fix?
