Russia’s Luna-25 space craft crashes on the Moon

MOSCOW, Aug 20 (Reuters) – Russia’s first moon mission in 47 years failed when its Luna-25 space craft spun out of control and crashed into the moon after a problem preparing for pre-landing orbit, underscoring the post-Soviet decline of a once mighty space programme.

Russia’s state space corporation, Roskosmos, said it had lost contact with the craft at 11:57 GMT on Saturday after a problem as the craft was shunted into pre-landing orbit. A soft landing had been planned for Monday. more

  1. To all of us Moon Landing hoaxers, this is no surprise. Space travel is HARD. I admit, I was hoping the Russian probe would finally let us SEE the true Moon surface. Finally let us SEE a true Earth-rise from the Lunar surface. Every pic out here so far is fake.

Main point is that to get Men on the Moon is 1000x more difficult than a simple one-way probe. And yet look how really truly difficult the probe becomes.

  2. Launched after the Indian moon lander but set to reach the moon first, I said this would happen, making a soft bed of debris for the Indian probe to land on. đŸ˜†
