Sadly, This Isn’t Surprising

Rape and Suicide Increase With Religious ‘Nones,’ Groundbreaking Research Shows.

Daily Signal- The legacy media often portrays the rise of irreligion as harmless—merely a matter of Americans owning up to their declining belief in God—but a groundbreaking new study reveals a terrifying correlation between the increase of Americans who identify with no religion and upticks in rape and suicide rates.

The Ph.D. sociologist who uncovered this connection argues for universal school choice, especially programs that enable parents to direct the education funds for their students to religious schools, in order to preserve the self-control that accompanies religious observance, according to his research.

“If the parents want to choose religious schools and want to preserve the religious faith of their children, well, my research indicates that’s going to be very good for everyone,” Philip Truscott told The Daily Signal in a Zoom interview Tuesday. A sociologist who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Surrey in England, Truscott taught as a professor of sociology at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, for 10 years, ending in July. read more

  1. It’s the parents money, not the kids. If the kid doesn’t want to go to that school, fund your own education. As far as the church leadership goes, they’re the worse people to admire or trust.

  2. The secularization of the North American Culture has been going on slowly for more than a generation. One of the most impactful incidents is the scheduling of school team sports or practices for Sunday mornings. To be on a team in middle or high school, these practices and games are mandatory. Sports are an integral part of the school experience and are an excellent way to train up young people. Parents want their children to be participants. Church loses out too often because sports are an activity that carries on all week long, unlike church attendance and the learning that goes on about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

  3. Communists suck… the religion, the morales, scruples and standards out of a society because they can’t stand competing with God.

I know of someone else that doesn’t like that competition either!

    Church leadership the worse?
Come on man. Name a few facts that doesn’t blanket the whole of church leadership. “one bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch”. if that were true, we need to just give up on our government too. Stop going to church and stop voting. What’s the point right?

  5. Sorry, this “research” — not unlike the vast majority of soc/psych bean-counting, assumption-making, and conclusion-drawing — is a mess in multifarious ways. Would take volumes to explain.

So I’ll leave just two points. (1) Why the focus on and measurement of rapes and suicides, rather than violent crime generally, or thefts. And… (2) Which “religions”?
