I don’t buy any fruit or vegetable from Mexico.
We used to be able to eat healthy foods grown somewhat locally, but that day is past. Now we just need to read labels and be aware.
Papaya?
WTF?
If I can’t spell it I’m not eating it.
In Mexico it’s common practice to use human waste as fertilizer. Just sayin’.
Soap is something they think is a gringo self indulgence. They work in our restaurants prepping food now days.
Yikes! If it were the agave plant I’d be dead now. 🙂
One more reason not to eat papaya. You know, besides the fact that they smell like vomit.
I ate some bad papayas at a restaurant called “Sam and Ella’s”
it was just a tiny Mom and Pop place.
Quinn, I’m not so sure it’s a case of using human feces as fertilizer as it is using the fields as a toilet – a subtle difference, to be sure…
We’ve got local papaya, so it’s no biggy. We use green papaya like a potato in soups, it’s quite good.
