  1. For those of you that have your own egg layers you might want to search “water glassing eggs”.
Don’t understand the science behind it but that’s how my farming side grandparents had fresh eggs and frozen chickens in the freezer in the winter. Start with new chicks the following spring.
    Repeat.

“You can freeze eggs. Look it up on the interwebs.”

The wife started doing that since my little brood overproduces for our needs and some folks don’t like colored eggs for some reason, so we can’t give them all away. It remains to be seen how long this lasts, and a long power failure will wipe them out, but they taste OK short term anyway…

…never heard of that, might have to try it, thanks.

  4. SNS, I used to be somewhat confused that my one set of grandparents in the city kept their eggs in the fridge and my other grandparents keep their’s in a crock in the basement with all the canned (glass, not store-bought) goods.

  5. And now for something completely different. Today’s KXLY.com out of Spokane has a humorous article that reads Moses Lake (Wash. state) Police Dept. successfully completes egg escort, about how the Moses Lake PD successfully eggscorted a couple of dozen eggs from a local egg producer to a local store. Oh, and by the way our Governor Jay Inslee has COVID.

  6. I must be filthy rich. I have four of the 2 dozen containers locked in my fridge right now.
We love eggs and so far, it’s still one of the cheapest protein sources.
I may eat those words in a couple of weeks, when the price increases again to compensate for the latest food factory fire.

  7. I hear that disease is wiping out laying hens, and now a huge fire has burned down a major egg-producing facility, so eggs might be a good investment. Unless there is a deliberate effort to wipe out egg production, and other sources of protein, in order to make edible bugs economically viable.

I mean, there is a repetitive pattern of them denying us things we enjoy and need, in order to make us accept the shit they want us to have.

And I am glad to know there are smart, independent people here who produce their own food. Keep on truckin’.

“I hate eggs. You can have mine.”

do you hate them in a cake? In French toast? In a pie? In mayonnaise?

…Eggs make many things better without making them “eggy”. I think you may like them in some of those forms, just not necessarily as themselves…
