DC: An expert on higher education is recommending President Donald Trump establish a blue-ribbon commission on American exceptionalism with historians, entrepreneurs and experts to counter the left’s cancerous narrative that America has irredeemable flaws.
“College produces people who think that the great lesson they’ve learned is that Western civilization is rotten to the core, that America is an experiment in hypocrisy and that the only thing we can do is overturn what our forefathers have handed down to us,” Peter Wood, a leader in higher education reform says.
Sounds like a great idea. While they’re at it maybe they can stop rewriting American History and start teaching that again.
Exceptionalism is not what the NEA teaches.
You teach to the lowest common denominator so everyone feels good about succeeding (even when they aren’t) including the teachers.
It’s hard to imagine that we have gotten to a point that this not only has to be said, but it probably has to be fought for.
Joe6 Of course it will have to be fought for. With no EBONICs mentioned, it will lose.
It’s Sergio Garcia, 2017 Masters Champion. He deserves it. Justin Rose played gallantly.
Sounds good, I hope Peter Wood’s wife has a life insurance policy on him.
Excellent. So happy to see this.
The old joke: “What do you call the worst student in medical school? Doctor.”
So, he gets somebody else to pay for a “commission.” And the commission recommends changes – which they can not enforce. But, somehow, somebody adopts some of them – in a few places. And America is saved from (another) Dr. Gruber, how?
Well, it’s fair to say this numb nuts knows he is NOT an exceptional educator.
Abolish the department of edumacation.
Instead of SPENDING (wasting) money on a “commission”, reduce/eliminate the Department of Education, and the influence of the NEA (and all the state education unions). Let the states set their own agenda.
This is fantastic news! Yes, we absolutely need an about face in education on all fronts. The onsie, twosie efforts made at the school board level will never outpace the devolution of what our kids (and future leaders) are being taught about America. The Left uses every subject to indoctrinate. We’ve all seen it on a daily basis. Our kids know so incredibly little compared to just a generation ago.
