The Scientific Method is a process in which hypotheses are tested by means of experimentation under controlled conditions. Data is collected, suggesting conclusions that either support or disprove the hypothesis.
The results are then published for peer review.
This step is critical to the process. Acceptance has the effect of “settling” the issue under investigation. Dissent can generate further experimentation which may lead to new opportunities for study.
By this process science can be said to “evolve”.
