American Thinker: Remember C. S. Lewis’ great novel The Screwtape Letters? As a senior demon, Screwtape writes mentoring letters to his nephew instructing him in the ways of screwing up (pun intended) human beings. Uncle Screwtape writes calm, encouraging missives to poor Wormwood. Such tutoring must be trickier these days — evil has come so far, and yet human beings still keep fighting back. The demonic board of directors must be grasping at tridents as time keeps getting shorter.
Actually, I take demons seriously — so did Lewis; it doesn’t take an astronaut to get mentally high enough above the fray to see the patterns forming. Everywhere we look we see evil just bubbling up out of the ground and spraying horror and temptation all over. I became aware of that as a high school teacher decades ago — teachers stand on the front lines of societal decay — and I’ve watched the speed and intensity of demonic malevolence increase year by year.
I can just hear a present-day demon — we’ll call him Slywyrd – a CEO devil running the American franchise. Picture him urging his underlings on to more dangerous efforts, aware that time is running out. I suspect that he has at least one functionary apiece assigned to the Democrat presidential minions. I’m sure at least one of his recent board meetings included an assessment like this:
Excellent.
If you are a believer and have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Like we all have except One!)…PRAY ANYWAY. That doesn’t make you a hypocrite. It makes you on par with Moses, King David, and Paul. Now that being said…
Please specifically pray against the spirit of fear…be laser-like focused against it. There are a lot of unarmed non-believers out there completely defenseless and clueless about the spiritual warfare happening around them. They need to swept up with The Blood Of The Lamb, like I did once long, long ago. I just didn’t know it at the time.
The spirit of fear is a way bigger threat than COVID-19. It must be eradicated…
I used to read a couple thick pooks every week. I spent a couple years immersed in Lewis, Beloc & Chesterton. Good stuff. I think there are ~100 volumes in my library by them or about them.
The article was great, most attempts are pretty weak.
Temptation of Christ. Satan offers Jesus all the cities, if he would just bow down in reverence to him.
MORAL: You can only give away what you own.
“WE’ll call him Slywyrd”
How about calling him George Soros?
Satan stalks the Earth.
I’d bet money that something similar takes place (on a more narrow scale, of course) in every Capital, every Boardroom, every Editorial Board, every Teachers’ Lounge, every Wall Street-type Penthouse, and every Secret Police Chiefs’ Office on Earth, every single day.
izlamo delenda est …
May the decipitoComs be with you…history is full of the seeds of evil fighting the seeds of Eve but we know that the Greatest SEED of Eve was Jesus Christ who overcame and destroyed the serpent’s plan.
Yet the serpent is attempting to take as many humans with him to hell as he can. Do not be deceived = Jesus was resurrected and lives again believe and be reconciled to the Creator.
The evils you see is not the one now entering the world, they are the ones you already welcomed into it because you thought them harmless and asked them to.
Like the vampire that needs your permission to enter your house, it shows up as something that looks good and desirable to get in then shows itself for what it really is and proceeds to kill you.
That’s how evil works, it’s been that way since the Garden of Eden and that innocent little apple incident that promised so much goodness but took paradise away from man instead.
I read AT daily, good source material for IOTW.
