‘Seats Do Not Belong To Politicians In Washington’

Daily Wire: GOP Rep. Andy Barr On Liz Cheney’s Blowout Primary Loss: ‘Seats Do Not Belong To Politicians In Washington.’

Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) said that Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) GOP primary defeat in Wyoming shows that congressional seats do not belong to politicians but the American people.

Appearing on “Meet the Press” Sunday, Barr said Cheney’s blowout loss to Trump-backed challenger Harriet Hageman last week was evidence of a massive gap between the priorities of seasoned lawmakers and the citizens they supposedly represent.

Barr said that his constituents, and the American people more broadly, do not share Cheney’s fixation with the 2020 election or the January 6th Committee but are concerned instead with kitchen table issues, such as the cost of living and securing the southern border.

“It goes to show, these Congressional seats do not belong to politicians in Washington,” Barr told host Chuck Todd. “These seats belong to the American people. And there is a massive, massive disconnect between the priorities of politicians in Washington and the concerns of the American people.”

“I have been back in my district — in Urban, Kentucky, Mount Sterling, Kentucky, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Richmond, Kentucky– over the past several weeks, and not once, not once, have any of my constituents, Republican or Democrat, talked about the 2020 election, January 6th, the committee in Washington or any of these issues,” he continued. more

  1. Cheney doesn’t own her seat, but had her seat handed to her by the voters.

That mostly because she was a “useful idiot” owned by the Demoncraps, and powned by Trump.

  2. Rep. Barr said that no one asked him about the 2020 election. That’s because they have resigned themselves to the fact that no Republicans will stand up against the steal. Besides that the fraudulent election will be certified in a few days.

  3. “Not once” Another useful idiot in Congress. And he’s lying of course.

Anyone that believes they have representation in DC is out of their fucking minds. That shithole could drop to the center of the earth and we’d finally have some freedom.

  4. Hey Andy, just because they’re not talking about @the 2020 election, January 6th, the committee in Washington or any of these issues,” doesn’t mean they don’t care. Maybe they are pretty sure that it’s pointless to complain, since they know that you and the GOP establishment will never do anything substantive about any of it.

And I’m going to take your word here that nobody mentioned “the 2020 election, January 6th, the committee in Washington or any of these issues,” but it just seems a little contrived and self-serving to be so absolute in your assertion that “nobody” protested these things.

  5. Distraction.
He’s portraying the current cabal of traitors infesting the Executive Agencies, the White House, the House, the Senate, and the SCROTUS as inept, rather than criminal.

Pure legerdemain while pretending a populist pose.

  6. remember scott brown (from 2010)?

“Are you willing, under those circumstances, to say I’m gonna be the person, I’m gonna sit in Teddy Kennedy’s seat, and I’m gonna be the person that’s gonna block it for another 15 years,” Gergen asks.
Brown responds: “Well, with all due respect, it’s not the Kennedys’ seat, and it’s not the Democrats’ seat, it’s the people’s seat…”

  7. I guess Andy is now less enthusiastic than he was on January 6, 2021:

“For Americans to have confidence in the legitimacy of our democracy, only legal votes should be counted, all illegal votes should be excluded from the count, and all counts should be lawfully verified. It is imperative, therefore, that state legislatures and Congress hold hearings to fully investigate what happened during the 2020 elections to address these legitimate concerns and, if necessary, hold accountable state officials and agencies for failing to faithfully implement or enforce applicable state and federal election laws. To that end, I strongly support an effort in Congress to establish a commission to investigate irregularities in the 2020 elections…”

But now, nobody he knows wants to talk about that shit anymore.

Have you noticed how the people who orattle on about “The Peoples’ Seat” also like to talk about “Our Democracy”?

Which “people”, and who is “our”?

And if you’re not sure where his head’s really at concerning J6…

“At the outset, let me emphasize that today’s events at the U.S. Capitol were tragic, outrageous and devastating. They were wholly inconsistent with the fundamental values of our constitutional republic…”

  8. Is there supposed to be some sort of significant meaning when an “R” is associated with a congress critter? If it’s a “D” I take it at face value, if it’s an “R” I’m skeptical as hell.

  9. Here in Indiana, it was the same thing with a breathless media mourning how Dick Lugar lost “his” Senate seat to Richard Mourdock. Lugar had been in the Senate for 6 terms(36 years). He rarely, if ever returned here, preferring to stay in Virginia. He only came back to Indiana during campaign time to do ads on his family’s “cherished” farm. Which had been sold after his 2nd term in the Senate. Term limits for every damned one of them. 2 terms in the Senate(12 years) & 5 terms in the House(10 years). After that, they do not stay in D.C. to become a lobbyist or a talking head. They go back to where they came from, get a real job & keep their mouth’s shut.
