  1. . Failure to deescalate? What a crock of sh!T. Seems like textbook deescalation to me. A bad guy with a deadly weapon calls for ventilation over deescalation

  2. So? He was carrying an ice axe? So what? Was he threatening anyone? Was he a clear and eminent danger to himself or those around him?
Are we reduced to being suspect and subject to arrest for openly carrying potato peelers?
Seems like there’s more truth than joke in, “the police see three types of people: themselves, convicted criminals, and unconvicted criminals.”

  3. The only time the Seattle police are considered good and noble is when they are protecting the latest group of offended individuals in this week’s “Let’s March!”

  4. DB Woodman he stole it from REI and he was threatening people in the store with it. Not just walking down the street with it, I would hate to get hit with an ice axe, nasty pick end.

  5. I was wondering if REI was somehow involved with this. Isn’t REI located in that part of downtown Seattle? It’s been a long time since I went there last. Heck, I very rarely go to the REI here in Spokane and I live only a couple of miles away from it.

  6. “…a decision that will ultimately be left up to Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best”

Great, a female chief. Officer better take the time off to update his resume; he’s going to need it. Especially if the perp was one of 30 different protected classes of people in Seattle.

If that’s true, the police acted appropriately, particularly considering Seattle’s drug problem. Stealing an axe, threatening people and then waving the deadly weapon in public? If it had been in rural King County on a Saturday night, he might have been shot on sight with no warning. King County cops don’t mess around.
