JTN: Seattle Public Schools may have to close some of its schools over the next few years as the district battles budget shortages and plummeting enrollment after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The district does not plan on closing any of its 106 schools next year, and the earliest closures may occur in the 2024-2025 school year, The Seattle Times reported last week.
Consolidating some schools for the 2024-2025 year could save $28 million as the district projects a $92 million budget shortfall that year.
Student enrollment has dropped to roughly 50,000 students from nearly 54,000 in the 2019-2020 school year. In a best-case scenario, school administrators expect 49,000 students by 2032, and in a worst-case scenario, enrollment may be as low as 43,000. MORE
Might this suggest that people don’t want to trust their children to Seattle schools?
Nah, couldn’t be.
I could be wrong that north of the Ship canal is where the rich folk live — the ones who were exempted from Seattle’s experiment in bussing that got them heaps of praise many years ago.
Good. Now consider closing ALL of the schools in the government school systems.
No one wants to go to Seattle…schools.
If a city promotes killing its future students before they are even born, then…
Have they factored in the expected jab, excuse me, the sudden deaths? Enrollment could be considerably lower than predicted now that the CDC has included the jab in the vaccine regimen.
On a related note, with fewer students to educate, will property taxes be reduced?
budget shortages? where did the money go?
I’d rather interact with a dumb person who hasn’t been taught than one that has.
Getting people to get their kids out of government school may be the only good thing to come out of the past few years.
LMAO You offer a FREE Public education, and no one shows up!
That tell you anything
“The plain fact is that education is itself a form of propaganda – a deliberate scheme to outfit the pupil, not with the capacity to weigh ideas, but with a simple appetite for gulping ideas ready-made. The aim is to make ‘good’ citizens, which is to say, docile and uninquisitive citizens.”

Time to cut taxes! The great Socialistic robbery needs to be curtailed.
Defund the police, but no reduction in taxes!
Chase people out of the schools, but no reduction in taxes!
Somebody’s awash in Money!!
