26 Comments on Seattle’s new mayor: “We will not allow grocery chains to close stores at will”

  1. Goodbye Seattle we hardly know you and don’t want to end up like you electing left wing losers with no political or managerial or business experience for mayor. And please don’t send your politicians over to eastern Washington we have enough of our own problems with our left leaning mayor Lisa Brown and our lousy city council.

The New Idaho movement is looking to engage EasternWA.
EasternOR countries have voted to join. Many things would have to happen for it to become a reality-but dare to dream I guess.

Same thing with the state of Jefferson. The problem is the very people you’re trying to escape hold all the cards. The Feds need to step in. It’s all bull shit. 75% of California has no representation. I’m sure the numbers are about the same for Washington and Oregon.

I moved up to NE Washington in 2014 to be with an old flame and to escape the Peoples Republic of Sacramento county. Since I moved, I never realized how bad the lefties had control of the state. I’ve been feeling the creep from “the west side” now for years, and it sucks. One thing that pisses me off the most is the restrictive new gun laws that have passed in the last several years, among other issues. Stevens County is very conservative. Seattle is a shithole now, like all other major left coast cities. Hard to believe the people they elect to rule over us.

  5. 🛑🛑 Madison, Wisconsin the Allied Dr area looted 3 stores out of existence, creating their own food deserts.🛑🛑

That’s were “certain people” who migrate from Chicago to get more welfare benefits live, FYI.

Check Google Earth, see if there is a supermarket withing shopping-cart-pushing distance.

  6. Business owners are smarter than most politicians. If a location is consistently losing money due to high taxes and/or looting/shoplifting, the owners will still figure out legal ways to close that location – frequently by offering less and more desirable products (now opening – The Lima Bean Store!). Businesses exist to generate a profit – if there is no profit, these business locations will not exist much longer. Sure, cities like San Francisco and Seattle may make it more expensive to leave, but these businesses will figure out a way to legally close these types of locations.

What idiot socialists don’t realize is that once a business leaves due to government interference, no other business will come in to replace them – you can’t close what doesn’t exist in the first place.
