DC: The second woman to accuse Democratic Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault issued a follow-up statement Friday night, after Fairfax denied the allegations.
Meredith Watson first alleged Friday afternoon that Fairfax raped her while they were students at Duke University in 2000. Fairfax denied the allegations and called it a “smear campaign.”
“Ms. Watson was raped by a basketball player during her sophomore year at Duke. She went to the Dean, who provided no help and discouraged her from pursuing the claim further. Ms. Watson also told friends, including Justin Fairfax,” a statement from Watson’s lawyer read. more

IMO Fairfax knows he’s a goner and is just going through the motions now. He ought to be horse-whipped and ridden out of town on a very sharp-edged rail.

An accusation is not a conviction.

A terrible malevolent trend is developing here. Blasey Ford discovered the pot of gold that comes with unsubstantiated sexual assault allegations, it never used to be that way. None of Bill Clintons victims were rewarded, either monetarily and in increased esteem within the community.
MeToo changed all that. Now, as long as your decades old claim can not be demonstrably disproved, and really, when there is only 2 people in the room, all women are safe in this regard. Bad behavior can be rewarded and richly so.
TBH, I kinda believe both women in this case. I’m hoping that my anti left bias is not shaping that belief, he just comes off as an arrogant entitled creep capable of forcing himself on women.
But gut feelings are not proof, due process in needed.

The goal of most Black men is a white woman on the arm, they count coup with them. That these women are coming forward, well, it’s my estimation that given the behavior of black men, I say he’s guilty.
The “premeditated rape” claim by Meredith Watson is frightening, if true. That she reported a rape a year earlier should be “in the files” at Duke University.
That Fairfax might have raped her, deliberately, and confident she would not report it out of frustration and fear from her previous rape, makes me suspect there are more victims in the wings. Probably many many more.

Shouldn’t the Dean have some records, and recollection, of her claim that he “dissuaded” her from pursuing action? If that allegation is true, the Dean should be looking for a new job soon.
