  1. Please let the shooting start in MY lifetime. A 5 minute Civil War – to rid the country of these vermin – would make ME actually want to live to old age; to tell my grandkids how ol’ grandpa helped rid the earth of Anqueefas.

  2. It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the American began to hate.

    They were not easily moved,
They were icy — willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the American began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the American began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
    No man spoke it aloud
When the American began to hate.

    It was not suddently bred.
    It will not swiftly abate.
    Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the American began to hate.

  3. “Anonymous you pulled that from American Digest.”

I’ve seen it posted at many different places. So many people have taken credit for it I have no idea who to credit. I like it a lot though.

  4. BFH, I’ve either read it, or heard it, but the surest way to be banned from iOTW is to use someone else’s name in making a comment. I endorse that, it’s a genuine violation. So, with that being said, why are these anonymous guys allowed to continue being anonymous. It’s clear there is more than one of them. Which one is hiding behind another’s identity? Why are they special because they all choose to be anonymous? How do we address an anonymous when it’s impossible to determine who they are or what their previous positions. Are they all the same and they are jerking our chains, or are they just snipers that hit and run? Maybe there is no way to control it. I guess I’m done bringing it up.

  5. joe6pak – Maybe the blogging software could be changed to substitute something insulting like “Chicken Shit” for the word “Anonymous” when the Name field is left blank. Then you have 5 minutes to edit and add your name to avoid being addressed as Chicken Shit later on. (Of course, even with that, we’d have numerous Chicken Shits all over the place instead of ‘Anonymous.’ 🙂 )

Or maybe assign a name for a blank field based in the commenter’s IP address.

  6. Jimmy, so the substance of somebody’s comment means nothing if they don’t put their (probably made up) name by it? Why is that? Shouldn’t a comment be judged on its own merit, or lack of merit, regardless of who says it, anonymously or not?

  7. Meanwhile, back to the Tim Scott interview. If these are the people(police)who put their lives on the line to protect us that was another piss poor performance. Didn’t see any wood put to any scum bucket heads. Let’s see some beat downs, tear gas, water cannons, armored vehicles. Let’s get it on.

    > some of their voters are not drug free and sober

How dare you!? How dare you!?

I’ll have you know many Minnesotan voters are Scandihoovian Edge.

  9. Common, ordinary, courtesy, Grool. Because people have identity that is worthy of both sharing and acknowledging.

For example, some people develop thematic responses to issues here. When I see their name in the comment side bar, I may think “Oh, he/she is commenting on this. I want to read it.” Having read it, we then use the “@Name:” leader on our own response to them.

Or someone is addressing me with a specific response using my name. I’d better read it!

In other words, it’s both respectful and a convenience. And it facilitates a much more focused discussion with a lot less confusion.

  10. I post as anonymous just to piss off the “elites” on this website who would rule over you just like the democrats if given the opportunity. They are no less fascist totalitarian than any other.

  11. And thank you, Grool. I always read your comments with interest!

See, Anonymouses? Having a unique name when you post is a good thing.

You know what? This place is funny and full of characters – more here than in my normal, face-to-face life.
