The Senate voted Friday to advance the Laken Riley Act, putting Republicans a step closer to sending the first bill of the 119th Congress to President-elect Trump for his signature next week and giving him an early win on one of his key issues.
Senators voted 61-35 to end debate on the bill, with 10 Democrats voting with every Republican; 60 votes were needed.
Democrats who voted “aye” were Sens. Ruben Gallego (Ariz.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Gary Peters (Mich.), Jacky Rosen (Nev.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Mark Warner (Va.) and Elissa Slotkin (Mich.). Gallego and Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who did not vote, were co-sponsors of the legislation.
The vote tees up final passage of the immigration-related bill in the upper chamber early next week. It will need to head to the House for approval once again before Trump can sign it.
The legislation would mandate federal detention of immigrants without legal status who are accused of theft, burglary and assaulting a law enforcement officer, among other things. more here
We do all understand that detention and multiple hearings cost a lot of money, right? Not to mention the cost of getting these people back to their shithole countries, some of which may not even have a modern airport.
They have already broken the law by being here. They have then become violent. I think most sane countries would handle violent invaders in a way that costs much, much less. Put a hood on them and put a bullet through their head. Done and done.
And if the leftists don’t like it, well, there are millions of them. We can compost them for the community tomato gardens.
Of course, my “senators”, Duckworthless and Durbin voted against it. nO surprise.
Let’s not forget that the bastards sitting on their asses in DC created this mess. Now they are going to pass laws to fix it, and we should praise them for it? FU!!!
Most democRATz put the lie to their slogan: “It’s fo de keeds”
The things they are for usually add yet a nuther layer of bureaucracy full of: Do Nothing Worthless Federal Tit-Sucking Parasites as another Cloward-Piven tap to help drain the Federal Treasury!
The filthy democrats are about to show who they really are again.

I’ve been trying to find out if a Senate Democrat added amendment to the bill is still there. It included the plan “to include provisions for mass amnesty, potentially offering legal status or citizenship to undocumented immigrants, including those accused of crimes.”
I can’t find that, so it must not have made it, which would have made the bill worthless.
