Just The News– The GOP congressman now faces a final vote in the Republican-led Senate.
The Senate Intelligence committee on Tuesday approved the nomination of Rep. John Ratcliffe to be the Director of National Intelligence, sending the nomination to the Senate floor for a final confirmation vote.
The GOP-led committee forwarded the Texas Republican’s nomination in an 8-7, party-line vote.
In the committee’s confirmation hearing last week, Democrats grilled Ratcliffe, a loyal Trump supporter, about whether he, if confirmed, could provide unbiased intelligence while serving under a president who has been openly skeptical of the U.S. intelligence community.Read more
Trump has long suggested the intelligence community is undermined by a “deep state” of officials opposed to his presidency.
If confirmed, Ratcliffe would replace former Indiana GOP Sen. Dan Coats, who resigned in July 2019.
Trump has since installed Richard Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany, as acting director. read more
Why are they moving so fast finally?
Grennel has to declassify/expose a lot more before ratcliffe gets appointed. Grennell better pick up the pace.
Dear Rep. Ratcliffe: Ambassador Grenell has set a very high standard for you. If you should fail to meet or exceed that standard it would cause a catastrophic breakdown in the vital battle against the ongoing coup.
So, I lost the train. If Trump pulled the nomination, why did the Senate move ahead? Contrary asses? What did I miss?
dammit. I really liked Grenell and the job he was doing as DNI. He declassified and exposed more criminal DC wrongdoing in a few months than the previous three years combined.
One could say his job acronym DNI stood for “Deny (the enemy the cloak of darkness)”
“If Trump pulled the nomination, why did the Senate move ahead?”
this is very curious.
i would like to know why too.
is it to stop grenell from releasing info?
we can bet romney won’t vote yes to approve no matter what.
@Mm, @bill — Ratcliffe was President Trump’s first choice for DNI but the dirty Senate Select Committee on Intelligence made it very clear they would never let him get confirmation. President Trump then named Grenell as acting DNI because that kind of appointment doesn’t require the Senate to act on it. However, an “acting” appointment is by law a temporary one, thus Ratcliffe’s second nomination. The corrupt PTB will do just about ANYTHING to get rid of Grenell, even confirm Ratcliffe whom they also despise but not as much.
As sundance put it at CTH a couple of weeks ago,:
It’s worth a few minute to read the whole CTH article.
Don did to the Sen. what the progressive Cal GOP does to voters. Choose between far left GOP or “Center left” Dem. Voters pick “the lesser of 2 evils”. Leftist Sen hates the conservative Grennel so they will take the moderate Rat! Rat is “the lesser….”
