Senator seeks probe into member of Hunter Biden’s legal team who may have lied about her identity

JTN: Republican Senator Pete Ricketts (R-Ne.) called for a disciplinary inquiry into Hunter Biden’s legal team after a judge accused one member of that team of having “misrepresented her identity and who she worked for in an attempt to improperly convince the Clerk’s Office” to remove a document from the criminal case involving Hunter Biden just a day before the scheduled hearing on the plea deal agreed to by the Department of Justice and the president’s son.

“I’ve heard from countless Americans who are concerned our justice system is being weaponized against President Biden’s political opponents while his son gets preferential treatment,” Ricketts said to Fox News Digital in a statement.

“There needs to be accountability for any misconduct or favoritism, including Hunter Biden’s own legal team,” the statement continued. “Faith in our justice system has been gravely damaged by the Biden administration’s mishandling of recent cases and restoring its integrity is essential.” more

  1. Why is this the Senate’s business? Isn’t there some other government entity who’s responsible for this sort of thing?

Those are purely rhetorical questions, of course. In an era when the IRS does pre-dawn raids, the USPS counts ballots and the Coast Guard is deployed to the Persian Gulf, anything but the law is followed, and convenience rules.

  2. Thirdtwin: It’s a Federal court. The senate approves judicial appointments and has power to impeach judges. I’m glad at least one Congressional representative is paying attention.

  3. Tony R, it would seem to be within the bailiwick of the judicial system. You’re right, of course, that the Senate is well within its powers to nudge the judge into doing the right thing by following up on the accusation, but there’s only so much the Senate can do beyond voicing indignation. Our federal judicial is in thrall to the executive branch’s DOJ. If the Senate had any real sway over judicial appointments/ impeachments, Emmett Sullivan would be disbarred by now. But there he sits as a judge, and without looking, I will wager that some Senator, maybe Rand Paul voice strong concern during the persecution of Michael Flynn.

“Checks & Balances” among the three branches is all but dead. The permagov fourth branch runs the other three in an ever-shifting ad hoc way. This is not to say that Senators shouldn’t make a perfunctory fuss about blatant problems in another branch’s operations, only that each branch should police itself, but they can’t and won’t because the permagov ultimately runs the show.

  4. The only people being represented in Washington are the elites. The illusion of being represented is okay for the blind sheep who continue and are happy chasing hope. 3rd party needed.
