  1. the Toronto media was bloody certain he was coming here.

From day 1, I said No Way:

    Reasons:

#1 Passport & Customs to play 50% of all your Games
#2 3 Extra hour Travel to Visit Japan vs L.A.
#3 Income from Swag & Gate

    also: 0.73 cents to 1 US$

  2. He might be damaged goods but he can still rake for a .300 avg and give you 40+ hrs a year and then pitch a couple of innings of relief….I will still hate on the Dodgers though….

  3. I grew up a Dodgers fan back in the days of Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Maury Wills, Willie Davis.
Listened to Vin Scully, every day.

Now I am totally disconnected from MLB and sports in general.

It’s probably just me. I no longer care.

I miss it sometimes. Sort of like I miss the Redskins of old. Kommuturds team is of no interest anymore.

  4. A man from my area was a member of the 69 Mets.
After the series was over he returned to town and resumed driving truck for a Bread Co.
The world was realistic back then.

  5. Well I sure hope the Dodgers consulted Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence before pulling the trigger on this deal. The wife and I are done with all pro sports. And they eliminated themselves one at a time. (I still watch MMA, and my fav sport of all is Boxing).
Our favorite team to watch, for a while now, is a Farm Club for the A’s here in town. The Rivercats. Which I guess might be considered a Pro sport. I dunno. Tickets are $20.00 and the beers a buck and the play is awesome. Good people and a good time.

  6. It’s going to be hard to pay the latter portion of that contract. Attendance and TV viewers are declining. Eventually advertisers will stop paying the rated the networks ask, and the networks in turn will offer less on the TV contracts. MLB will see a decrease in revenue, and players who don’t want to acknowledge the decrease will get cut.

  7. @willysgoat ~ ” … hit .274 with 171 home runs and 437 RBI, according to The New York Post.

    171/6 = 28.5 dingers per year, 437/6 = 73 rbi’s per year …. barely All-Star caliber

… think he’s gonna up his stats as he gets older? … go for it
like I said, it’s a $700 mill gamble on damaged goods … didn’t see the contract. don’t know what guarantees there are.

(btw, MLB lost me when the Astros were proven to be cheats & still were allowed to keep their WS title … just as bad as proven ballot stuffing & still winning … then they started that kneeling crap … buh bye … remeber folks, it’s a business, you can either partake, or not … it’s a choice … act accordingly)

  8. @ ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ …He’s only 29 years old….I agree with you but what will his stats show if he hits every day and doesn’t pitch every 4th day….It’s like every baseball argument ever, it gets better and better after a few beers…LOL..Like who had better power stats Babe Ruth or Josh Gibson….baseball it’s what’s for dinner…

  9. The Babylon Bee does it again with the headline, Ohtani signs a $700 million dollar contract with the Dodgers, will receive $58 dollars after California taxes. And he could afford to buy an Italian nightclub sandwich from Jimmy Johns in maybe 2 or 3 years. And he’s now homeless since California taxes any income over $10 millon dollars at 100%.

Marginal rates are ,andh ave been for over 100years a sham tofool the

    math challenged.

2 currentexamples – cherry pick I am- Gates and “sage of Omaha”
Were marginal rates meaningful they would pay a combined $10 Billion ($10,000,000,000,000) in taxes. But liberals have always crafted “loopholes” (a derisiveterm usedby Ronny many dtimes), liberals call ’em “Middle class taxc uts”. They paid less than $5million ($5,000,000) by applying MIDDLE CLASS TAXCUTS.

Votedfor Ronny 9 times because he killed many “MIDDLE CLASS TAXCUTS’.

I was a very good “BEAN COUNTER” for decades, CFO for years. I understand fairly well how Tom Hanks pays less than 5% Cal Franchise Tax. “MIDDLECLASS TAX CUTS””. “Compassionate conservative” is far from the only lie leftists tell!
