  1. ^^^ Saw all of them live when I wasn’t so little in the 70’s. Sad to lose a great drummer. Boston was kinda an enigma, Wish they did more. Was at their first show when all they could play was about 30-45 minutes. The crowd had a fit when they left.

  2. Recently a friend and I were returning from a road trip late at night and were listening to the BEST OF BOSTON. We were so into it that we missed our turnoff by fifteen miles!

  3. Every note actually played – none from a sound machine.

This had to be pointed out back then.

Hearing Paul McCartney & Wings in `73 or 4, Paul pointed to the big black box suspended up high to tell us why we were hearing sounds no one played on stage.

Somewhere along the line we got Milli Vanilli et al and then auto-tune.

The inevitable conclusion being robot concerts enjoyed by robot proxies.

Take me before then, God. OK?

  4. The Who, Pink Floyd, Johhny Winter, Pablo Cruise, Todd Rundgren, Cheap Trick, Doobie Brothers, Eagles …

    Yeah, the 70s were great.

I knew it was over when DEVO came on the scene.

  5. This is the strangest story of how a band formed I have ever heard:
The original Boston album was recorded solely by Tom Scholz, who had to convince Brad Delp to do the vocals. It was all recorded in Scholz’s basement. Before a record deal could be finalized, the band had to do a live audition for the record company executives. The duo recruited Goudreau on guitar, bassist Fran Sheehan and drummer Sib Hashian to create a performing unit which could replicate Scholz’s richly layered recordings on stage.

  6. Such a great band. Their music left you feeling really good. Personal favorite is Hitch a Ride, but so many other incredible tunes. It’s good to see that Sid kept doing what he loved.
