Small Business Owners Celebrate The GOP Tax Reform Plan, Say Their ‘Biggest Fear Is The IRS’

DC—WASHINGTON, D.C. — Small business owners decried the impact of the current tax code on their businesses and lauded the newly-released GOP tax reform plan’s potential to “unleash the American dream” Thursday.

Small business owners expressed optimism about the expected impact of the framework on their respective operations during a press conference hosted by tax reform groups on Capitol Hill.

The framework, released Wednesday, cuts taxes for individuals of all income levels, small businesses, and corporations, and eliminates itemized deductions for the wealthiest Americans.

Kristie Arslan, the owner of D.C.-based gourmet popcorn company Popped Republic, praised the GOP plan for the simplicity that she expects the reform to bring to the tax code. Arslan, who founded her business five years ago with her husband, said she has always feared the IRS.  read more

  1. I went to a lawyer to show me how to create an L.L.C., and I just gave up after all the bullshit paperwork and taxes I’d have to file each year even if I made not 1 red cent.

    LAND OF OPPORTUNITY MY ASS!
There is just opportunity for me to pay all the people to keep me out of trouble, and opportunity for gov’t and everyone else to get me IN trouble.

    SCREW YOU ALL!

  2. I haven’t read the document but I think that Trump fumbled the ball on this one. He had a chance to push through a flat tax for all, eliminating loopholes, deductions and all the other ways money is hidden. Everyone from the poorest to the richest would have some skin in the game and while maybe the big earners would save some but it’s not like they’d stick it in their mattresses a’la Scrooge McDuck, they invest it to create more jobs and more wealth. The best part of all is it would defang the IRS forever.

  3. I’m thinking it’s not that simple, scr_north.

If flat tax were in play, I would owe nothing. I make no wages or interest earnings. No one cuts me a paycheck so there’s no flow to tap automatically.

The reality is that many people spend money to make money, Can’t skip those deductions or the whole thing is screwed. No point in filing if it comes to that. No one can afford to pay more than they keep.
