CBS: Smokers can no longer light up in or near public housing facilities in the U.S. due to a new rule that went into effect July 31. The nationwide ban on smoking in public housing was implemented nearly two years after the rule was passed by the Obama administration in 2016.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) now prohibits the use of cigarettes, cigars and pipes in all public housing units and common areas, as well as any outdoor areas up to 25 feet from public housing and administrative office buildings. The ban does not apply to e-cigarettes, snuff and chewing tobacco, although there may be restrictions on those in some areas. more here
This is really a tacit admission that most of the units are fire boxes that will ignite with the slightest provocation.

Does public housing include the White House? That would explain why it wasn’t implemented until President Newport was gone. The thought of him bringing the hammer down on his fellow public housing smokers makes me chuckle.
Watching the enforcement of this law should be fun to watch. LEOs aren’t going to waste their time on this.

You want the government to take care of you, then you have to play by their rules. Smokers in public housing may end up realizing that if they stopped spending $7 a pack on smokes, that they wont need to be in public housing anymore.
The murder rate is going to rise.

I would wager the amount of smokers in public housing is around 95%.
