Updated reports indicate that two immigrant detainees are dead and one is in critical condition in Dallas after an attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility early Wednesday morning. Reports indicate the shooter is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
UPDATE 12:15 p.m.: DHS officials now report that the Dallas sniper killed two detainees, a number previously reported, but changed to one earlier in the day by FBI Director Kash Patel. The most recent statement from DHS, the parent agency of ICE, states:
This morning, a deranged gunman attacked a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Dallas field office from a nearby rooftop. The shooter fired indiscriminately at the ICE building, as well as at a van in the sallyport where the victims were shot.Three detainees were shot. Two are deceased, and the other is in critical condition. The gunman was found with a self-inflicted gun wound.

Now the families of the slain detainees are going to sue the government for not protecting the victims.
I am not and never been a LEO and perhaps a LEO here would like to correct my perception, but I have had some limited experience with sally ports in person, and have like everyone seen them in videos.
And the ones Ive seen, on TV as well as in my small towns, typically involve the officer driving the prisoner INTO a bay, the door closed behind the vehicle, THEN the prisoner taken to the intake. Its not usually open air as thats just another opportunity for an attempted escape.
So isnt it odd these prisoners were an easy mark for a sniper in the open then?
I mean, seeing as how a covered arrangement would make sniping impractical, it seems rather convenient that they were both outside and nicely grouped so a disturbed White guy could take an easy shot…

I have changed my mind on gun control. If you are a registered Democrat, you can’t have a gun. You can’t have access to a gun. You are prohibted from being within 100 yards of a Cabellas or a Bass Pro store. If you know how to spell “gun,” you are placed on a watch list.
