Bongino: Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) defended her support for a Congressional pay raise for her $174,000 salary, claiming low government salaries were the reason why so many lawmakers turn to lobbying after leaving office.
Ocasio-Cortez said yesterday of Congressional pay increases: “…It may not be politically popular to say, but honestly this is why there’s so much pressure to turn to lobbying firms and to cash in on member service after people leave because precisely of this issue.”
She said that an increase in pay for Congress is “not even like a raise, it’s a cost of living adjustment. You can vote against a cost of living adjustment all you want and it will look good on its surface,” the lawmaker told Fox News.
According to the freshman congresswoman, “Every cost of living adjustment that gets bypassed is voting to increase the pressure to exploit loopholes and legal loopholes to kind of lean on other ways to enrich oneself through service.” more

What salary (and bennies) will be required, that her colleagues should agree to, that will make future interference in government, after they’re out of office, a capital (not “capitol”) offense?
Service in Congress should be voluntary, and only one term.
If she’s not satisfied with congressional pay, which she knew about when she decided to run for election, then she shouldn’t have run.
What makes this really silly is that she is going to reap million$ from her short stint in Congress. Last thing she needs to worry about is a few thousand.

Well, she has a $944K budget for staff, and her live-in boyfriend is her chief of staff (or something like that) so that might help her household income. Plus, she has a campaign war chest that is sizable, (given her status as a democrat superstar) which she can keep when she leaves office. But if she thinks she isn’t being paid what she’s worth, she can always leave congress and go back to bar tending.
She’s going to fit right in with the rest of our greedy, overpaid Congress officials. She must have already been indoctrinated by Schumer as to how they do things in Washington.

It is my belief that all members of senate and congress only be paid by the state they represent. Additionally, they may only stay in state controlled housing. They shall in no way be compensated by the federal government.
Also, DC shall have no representation nor shall it have any privately owned property. No one may live or own property in DC. Only government barracks or state owned housing.
