“Somebody Got Into The Sugar”

h/t AbigailAdams, who says-

I’ve been meaning to send you a link to some addictive YT videos. Everyone here probably already knows this family — they are third (fourth?) generation candy makers near Syracuse NY (Fulton?). I don’t know why, but I could waste an entire day just watching them make candy. But the funnest part is just listening to them interact with each other. It’s Hercules Candy, and they are a LOT of fun. Very interesting, too.

We Made Peanut Butter Cup Ribbon Candy!

We took peanut butter and brought it to a whole different level! We made peanut butter flavored ribbon candy with peanut butter and chocolate filling! Made for all you peanut butter cup fans that just wished they were a little more crunchy! This is a double batch video so made sure to give you the extra long run time because everyone seems to love it so much! Enjoy 😀

  1. Years ago, I worked in a candy factory that made hard candy and butter toffee peanuts. The owner was stirring up a pot of butter toffee peanuts and when he dumped the peanuts onto the table, he dumped it on the cement floor instead! No problem, he had a shovel handy. He shoveled it back into the pot and then onto the table. Stuff like that went on all the time. The health department finally shut them down. Now their kids opened up a new factory in a different town – I hope they know better.

  2. Goldenfoxx- So gross!
I worked at a bakery in the early 80s that violated every rule possible and were fined constantly for this and that, including lawsuits from Disney. Bugs around the food, stale cakes, faulty fridge cases that shocked people who touched them, special orders were incorrect or never produced, and we always wondered if the illegal aliens they had working in back were afraid to quit or were screwing the owner’s SIL.
I didn’t hang around to find out because I quit after a few months.
Vile people, in every sense of the word.
I never referred to them in future jobs/ applications.
They finally closed down maybe 10 years ago. I don’t know how they stayed open so long.

  3. I worked in a bubble gum factory once. For 20 minutes- they showed me around, then what my job would be. I quit, right there and then. The guy who hired me would probably still like to wring my neck.

  4. I’m tellin’ ya, these candy-making vids are highly addictive. Even when I saw this post and was about to hit the link (again!), Geoff C. said, “No! Stop!! We’ve got stuff to do!!” LOL!

Thanks for posting, MJA! Merry Christmas!
