‘South Park’ Irks White House, Scientology With Trolling Mobile Billboards

THR:  South Park is still the master of ruffling feathers.

In an effort to promote the 20th season, which premiered Sept. 14, mobile billboards have been placed in seven locations around the country depicting scenes that coincide with the trucks’ placements.

The marketing ploy did not go over so well with three locations: the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Church of Scientology.

“We knew it was risky,” Walter Levitt, chief marketing officer for Comedy Central told The Hollywood Reporter. “We knew some locations might not be pleased to have us out there, but we thought this is a perfect way to celebrate everything the series has covered in its 19 seasons.”

  1. @Charlie – South Park is my favorite show. It’s often stupid, but over the past 20 years I have found it to be the most socially aware show I have ever seen. The best episode is the dual Cartoon Wars double episode, where they have people literally sticking their heads in the sand to avoid seeing Muhammed on TV – a powerful Freedom of Speech episode in which they show Muhammed. Except that Comedy Central blacked it out, immediately followed by negative portrayals of Jesus etc. (to make their point) which Comedy Central did not black out.

BTW an earlier episode (Super Best Friends) had Muhammed in it. That episode is no longer available.
Last season they focused on PC culture. They are continuing that with the new season just under way.
I don’t agree with 100% of their arguments, but the vast majority.

  2. They have the right.

I have the right to think the show is stupid and the people involved with the show are juvenile morons who never grew up past 12 years old with their humor. They lack morals, values, ethics and anything resembling good taste…..
